What’s the role?
An exciting opportunity exists for an experienced General Practitioner with a passion for working with people aged 12 -25 and mental health to join the team at headspace Southport to provide holistic mental, physical and sexual health care under the Medicare Benefits Scheme. You will be working on a self-employed basis on a contract with headspace Southport. We are a bulk billing practice.

headspace Southport is an NGO working with the headspace model which strives to provide timely access to appropriate care to support mental wellness in young people. A key part of this model is to support access to wrap-around care including medical input integrated into the treatment plans. Our contracted practitioners are highly valued team members as they provide a vital care pathway. headspace headspace Southport is consistently one of the busiest centres in the headspace network with demand for all services being steadily high.

If this sounds appealing, you will need:
- Bachelor of Medicine (or equivalent) with current APRHA registration
- Have a Medicare provider number and be able to bill under the MBS
- A passion for working with 12-25 year olds
- Cultural and diversity sensitivity – headspace Southport demographic includes a large proportion of those in the LGBTIQAP+ community, Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples and the CALD community.
- Knowledge and skills in being able to work with a range of presentations within the mild to moderate spectrum including but not limited to stress, depression, anxiety, trauma, self-harm alcohol and drug use and family discord
- Experience in performing health checks
- Have an ABN and professional indemnity insurance
