About Melbourne Teaching Health Clinics 

Melbourne Teaching Health Clinics (MTHC) is a wholly owned subsidiary of the University of Melbourne and provides world class clinical training opportunities for the Faculty of Medicine, Dentistry and Health Sciences students. It also provides patient access to high quality health care for members of the Victorian community, within a private practice setting. There are six clinical areas that are central to this service, and they include general medical practice, dentistry, optometry, audiology, speech pathology and psychology.

About Shepparton Medical Centre

Shepparton Medical Centre (SMC) was established in 2010, the first purpose-built, multidisciplinary teaching clinic in Australia created to increase the quality and capacity of medical education in a rural setting.

Since its inception, SMC has been facilitating the wellbeing of our patients and students by focusing on patient-centred care and outstanding clinical education. We deliver approximately 40,000 services to patients each year and support the community in a number of ways including participating in Priority Primary Care Centres as well as providing allied health care and specialist care from the Centre.

The Priority Primary Care Centre (PPCC)

The Priority Primary Care Centre / Medicare Urgent Care Clinic (PPCC) is a joint funded Victorian government and federal government initiative aimed at providing urgent clinical care to the community and reducing the pressure on busy emergency departments.  The Shepparton PPCC will work closely with GV Health and other local health providers to delivery high quality care for patients that need urgent care but may not need to go to an Emergency Department. The PPCC is based at the Shepparton Medical Centre (SMC).

An outstanding opportunity awaits a Vocationally Registered General Practitioner (VR GP) with a specialisation in Women's Health to become a key member of our professional, AGPAL accredited, and collaborative team-based practice situated in a fast-paced, high-profile medical centre.

With a particular emphasis on Women's Health to address the increasing demand from patients, this role will play a pivotal part in propelling the clinic into its next stage of growth. As a mixed billing practice, SMC delivers top-tier general practice services to a well-established patient base. The team of GPs is bolstered by nurse-led clinics in both the treatment room and chronic disease management. With a supportive and collegiate environment committed to ongoing training and development, this role caters to both new fellows and those eager to share their knowledge with the next generation of GPs.

Work arrangements are flexible, accommodating regular part-time hours, locum, contract, or secure employment options tailored to suit your schedule. For the right candidates, relocation support is available.

Essential Requirements

• Full AHPRA registration
• Vocationally registered and hold FRACGP/FACRRM
• Excellent communication skills and a passion for providing care in the community that makes a difference
• Commitment to be being part of a team to deliver innovative urgent care in regional Victoria
• Experience using Best Practice or Medical Director highly regarded
