Manage Generator Connections, ensure compliance, facilitate renewable energy integration, and support grid stability and efficiency.

D'Arcy Weil is representing a prominent Australian electricity transmission company, dedicated to delivering safe, reliable, and sustainable energy solutions. As an industry leader, our client plays a crucial role in facilitating the connection of generators to the grid, ensuring the efficient and effective operation of Australia's energy infrastructure.
Our client is seeking a skilled Generator Connections Engineer to join their team. The successful candidate will be responsible for managing the connection process of generators to the transmission network, ensuring compliance with regulatory requirements, and facilitating the integration of renewable energy sources.
Key Responsibilities:
  • Coordinate and oversee all aspects of the generator connection process, including feasibility assessments, design reviews, and commissioning activities.
  • Develop technical specifications, connection agreements, and grid connection studies for generator projects, ensuring compliance with relevant standards and regulations.
  • Conduct detailed technical analyses, such as load flow studies, short-circuit analyses, and harmonic assessments, to assess the impact of Generator Connections on the transmission network.
  • Provide technical guidance and support to generator owners, developers, and internal stakeholders throughout the connection process, addressing technical inquiries and resolving issues as they arise.
  • Collaborate with system planning and operations teams to assess the impact of Generator Connections on network stability, reliability, and security of supply.
  • Lead or participate in technical working groups, industry forums, and regulatory consultations related to Generator Connections and grid integration.
  • Stay abreast of emerging technologies and best practices in Generator Connections, renewable energy integration, and grid modernization.
  • Support the development and implementation of grid connection policies, procedures, and guidelines to streamline the generator connection process and improve transparency and efficiency.
  • Conduct site visits and inspections to assess compliance with connection requirements and address any technical challenges or issues.
  • Prepare technical reports, presentations, and documentation to communicate key findings, recommendations, and outcomes related to Generator Connections.
Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's degree in electrical engineering or related field; postgraduate qualifications preferred.
  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in electrical engineering, with a focus on power systems, transmission networks, and Generator Connections.
  • Professional engineering registration or eligibility for registration with Engineers Australia.
  • In-depth knowledge of generator connection standards, codes, and regulations, including AS/NZS 4777 and relevant grid codes.
  • Experience with power system analysis software, such as PSS/E, PowerFactory, or PSCAD/EMTDC.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to interpret technical data and perform complex engineering calculations.
  • Excellent communication, interpersonal, and stakeholder management skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively with multidisciplinary teams and external partners.
  • Proven project management experience, including the ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously and deliver results on time and within budget.
  • Knowledge of renewable energy technologies, grid modernization initiatives, and emerging trends in the energy industry.
