About the role:
We are seeking multiple motivated, skilled molecular genetics scientists who are open to full-time, part-time, or casual arrangements. Candidates should have previous experience in molecular genetics with a particular interest in variant curation and analysis.
The role is full time and part of a team of scientists delivering novel carrier screening options for patients who are struggling with infertility. Work alongside an exceptional team of Genetic Scientists, genetic pathologist and support services team members to deliver diagnostic genetic services for patients.
You will perform key duties in the molecular genetics laboratory including DNA extraction, PCR and capillary electrophoresis, next-generation sequencing, and variant curation and interpretation.
The successful candidate will have:
- BSc in Genetics or equivalent
- Significant experience in molecular genetic technologies
- Understanding of molecular genetics
- Excellent troubleshooting ability
- Strong attention to detail
- Time management skills
- Great team work and collaborative way of working
Desirable:
- Experience in germline genetic variation curation
- At least 5 years experience in clinical molecular genetics diagnostics or molecular cytogenetics laboratory.
- Experience and familiarity with NATA accreditation, NPAAC guidelines and ISO standards
- Experience with next-generation sequencing will be an advantage
- Highly proficient in data analysis
