MINELOM Consulting is a private mining engineering consulting company that provides consulting and contracting services to the mining industry in Australia.
It provides feasibility studies expertise as well as technical services expertise (engineering, surveying and geological).
The Role
MINELOM is seeking to employ a Geotechnical Engineer to provide geotechnical expertise and support for the company and/or its clients.
This role is offered on 8 days on, 6 days off, DIDO from Dubbo, NSW or 5:2 residential in Cobar, NSW.
The role is offered as a permanent position and will pay an annual base salary of between $135,100 to $140,000 for a 38 hour week, depending on experience.
Reporting to the MINELOM Technical Manager, responsibilities of this role will include;
- Optimising open pit, underground, waste dump, tunnels and mine infrastructure development;
- Developing and implementing standards and procedures in respect of slope, ground monitoring, control and mine infrastructure;
- Conducting geotechnical inspections and collecting geotechnical data of pits and underground dumps and stockpiles, and tailings dams;
- Developing and monitoring safe work practices for work on or around slopes and underground;
- Completing geotechnical modelling to inform and guide short and long-term mining methods and strategy;
- Maintaining a geotechnical database inclusive of inspections and data measurements;
- Advising and assisting engineers with recommendations on geotechnical issues regarding mine design, planning and operations as requested;
- Overseeing the installation of ground support and QA/QC; and,
- Associated duties as required.
We are looking for a Geotechnical Engineer who is highly motivated and enjoys working alongside like-minded professionals in a small and growing team.
This opportunity would suit either a Geotechnical Engineer looking for exposure to new environments and challenges across different operations and projects or one who would want to relocate to regional NSW.
The ideal candidate for this position will meet the following criteria;
- Tertiary qualification in Geotechnical Engineering (or related discipline);
- Understanding of the Mine Safety and Inspection Act & Regulations;
- 3 -7 years' experience in an operational site based Underground Geotechnical Engineer role;
- Exposure to an Open Pit mining environment will be an added advantage;
- Proven ability to work in a fast-paced, dynamic production environment;
- Technical expertise in relation to Geotechnical Engineering;
- In depth understanding of mining engineering processes;
- Proficient with relevant software (in particular, Surpac, Unwedge, Dips and Map3D); and
- Candidates who have international experience will be highly regarded.
