MMG Rosebery:

Rosebery is an underground polymetallic base metal mine located in the township of Rosebery in Tasmania, Australia and is 100% owned by MMG Limited.

With continuous production since 1936 Rosebery mine has current potential to extend life beyond 2028. This underground mine has continually attracted and produced world class professionals. With a strong community focus and core values including safety and integrity, we are proud of our role in community development and our economic contribution to the local Tasmanian industry.

The operation continues to deliver excellent operational performance and employs over 500 employees and contractors who reside in the local region.

Geotechnical Engineer

Residing in the Rosebery township and reporting to the Senior Geotechnical Engineer, you will have the opportunity to work in one of the deepest mines in Australia. Working in a small Geotechnical team you will gain highly diverse experience with sub-level stoping at depth as well as exposure to legacy mining operations and surface Geotechnical instability. This is an excellent position for someone who is looking to expand their Geotechnical knowledge and who is self-motivated and can work independently.

The role is offered on an 8/6 roster. This is a residential role, DIDO from other locations in Tasmania and FIFO from Melbourne will be considered for the right candidate

Competencies, qualifications and skills:

An unwavering commitment to workplace safety and a demonstrated expertise in establishing cultures and systems that embed safety awareness.
Degree qualifications in Geotechnical Engineering.
Exposure to more than one site will be advantageous.
Experience with underground mining.
Current drivers' license.
Key responsibilities will include:

Monitoring rock mass deformation and performance, assessment of ground control systems as well as maintaining quality control and quality assurance systems.
Heavily involved in geotechnical assessments of stope and development designs as well as providing geotechnical feedback with respect to stope design optimisation.
Collection and analysis of geotechnical data including core logging, geotechnical mapping, ground control installation and rock mass instrumentation.
Undertaking geotechnical analysis for excavation design utilising rock mass classification and characterisation systems, geological structural data, empirical analysis and numerical modelling.
