Job Description
Your New Role
As a talented GIS Software Engineer, you will rapidly grow and progress in a multidisciplinary environment and influential Federal Government portfolio. Working in an agile development team, you will:
- Collaborate and innovate with our talented cross-functional and cross-domain teams on compelling software solutions, constantly refining our approach and methods
- Design software, develop/prototype, and investigate Enterprise Software systems
- Gather requirements and design against both business and technical requirements
- Contribute to the management and building of DevOps/Agile process and tools
- Conduct unit testing, release/deployment and support integration testing.
- Coordinate agile life cycle activities and ensure progress is being made with objectives
- Document your design and engineering work
- Engage effectively with the Systems Engineering team, management, and other teams across the Technical Systems areas.
Qualifications
About You and What You'll Bring
You have experience (1+ year) implementing ArcGIS software in a large scale enterprise (civilian/military) and/or a Bachelor degree in engineering, computer science, information technology or a related discipline, together with relevant professional experience and specialised training. You will demonstrate a pro-active approach with the ability to understand the business, identify issues and develop enduring and trusting relationships with both the vast talent in Leidos and a broad range of customers.
You will also have exposure to:
- Python (must have)
- Geospatial application development
- Java and strong understanding in related Free and Open Source Software (FOSS) frameworks
- Comfortable in developing large scale software solutions in largely RHEL platform Experience in deploying large scale enterprise systems and infrastructure as code
- Experience in docker and containerisation technologies
- Good knowledge of working in a DevSecOps/Agile environment and related tools
- Good knowledge and application of a broad range of skills including software, systems and enterprise architecture, and interface protocols
- Excellent problem solving skills
- Excellent written and oral communication skills
- Willingness to document and improve software development processes.
