Job description

Are you meticulous and driven by attention to detail? Do you aspire to make a meaningful difference in the community? Want to work for an established not-for-profit? If you’re seeking a role where you can learn and grow in a fast-paced, supportive environment, consider becoming the Program Support Officer for our Glasses for Kids program.

About Us:

Glasses for Kids is an initiative of State Schools’ Relief, a not-for-profit organisation dedicated to providing essential educational items to Victorian government school students. We believe in inclusivity and equal opportunity, ensuring every student can participate fully in their education. State Schools’ Relief is an established and respected charity that has a long and proud history of serving Victorian government school students. It is widely recognised across the community and, especially throughout schools, across Victoria.

The Program:

The Glasses for Kids program, which is funded by the Victorian Government, aims to remove vision impairment as a barrier to educational engagement. Good vision is important for a child’s educational, physical and social development. Yet one in five children has an undetected eye problem. For students who need glasses, not having them can set them behind from their peers in their school studies and education. The program provides free vision screening and if necessary, further testing and glasses from Prep to Year 3 students in targeted government schools. Since 2020 over 40,000 targeted students from 340 schools have participated, with more than 3,881 pairs of glasses being distributed. In this iteration of the program, a total of 107,000 students in a total of 770 schools will be invited to participate.

The Role:

You will be a person who loves detail, multi-tasking and working as part of a team. Based primarily at our warehouse location in Dandenong South, with occasional travel to schools, you’ll play a pivotal role in managing the dispatch and inventory of glasses orders, providing administrative support, and occasionally supporting program delivery in schools. The work is fulfilling and makes a massive difference to children in some of the most disadvantaged schools in Victoria. The role is full-time on a fixed term contract until mid-2027 with possibility of extension.

Please contact us for the full position description.

If you are passionate about contributing to a program that has a profound impact on children’s education and well-being, we would love to hear from you. Please submit a cover letter addressing the selection criteria and your CV to be considered. Applications close Monday 15th of July at 3pm.
