What You'll Do
This 12-month, fixed-term professional engineer role within the G2 Global engineering team provides software solutions and concepts, detailed solution design, system integration, software verification and training. These engineering activities support G2 engineering consultancy opportunities as commercial proposals, bids or tender responses in support of the sales teams within G2.
The G2 Solutions Software Architect is a self-sufficient and self-motivated engineering professional with extensive software solutions design experience who is expected to oversee all requirements and dependencies of allocated tasks.
The G2 Solutions Software Architect is required to assist in solutions to meet specific G2 customer requirements utilising either existing or newly developed systems, product configurations and / or services, and must collaborate with functional teams outside of G2 as needed to bring new systems and services into operation.
The G2 Solutions Software Architect is required to develop written engineering content for inclusion in commercial RFI and RFT responses, commercial proposals or quotations.
Solutions Architects must also be prepared to provide technical guidance, instruction and mentoring of less experienced engineering staff within the G2 Engineering team.
The day-to-day

• Provision of timely and insightful technical input into the preparation of tender responses
• Provision of software solution designs and satellite systems software integration expertise to clients in support of G2 sales teams and the G2 GX VAR
• Provide engineering-level technical support to the ongoing operations of the G2 GX VAR
• Specification, documentation and implementation of software solutions for customer services/systems
• Provision of senior engineering level support and technical mentoring to G2 engineers
• Assistance with solution verification to ensure business requirements are met and defects have been successfully resolved.
• Provision of training, technical presentations and demonstrations.
• Role Model, technical mentor and supporter of the G2 engineering staff
• Delivers technical support and consultancy services to the G2 sales, Service Delivery and Commercial Teams.
• Engineering consultancy, engineering design and post-sales engineering support to Inmarsat customers.
• This role requires travel, both domestically. The solutions Architect will be required, on an irregular basis and provided reasonable notice, to travel sometimes for periods exceeding seven days and, if required to travel on weekends to meet on-site weekday commitments.
• Must have a suitable background to qualify and maintain an Australian Defence security clearance - must currently hold and maintain Australian citizenship.
• The post-holder must have and maintain a Current Australian drivers' license and passport

Qualifications
What You'll Need:

• Must hold a relevant engineering, computer science or IT degree (or equivalent relevant tertiary qualifications), with demonstrable experience in the Information and Communications Technology (ICT) industry.
• Must have experience in software connectivity between systems, choosing the best technologies for the systems themselves, and mapping business requirements into engineering requirements, particularly as it applies to customer solutions for satellite communications, networking systems and Software as a Service (SaaS).
• Must be proficient in the development of maintenance documentation and support programmes for developed software solutions
• Must have experience working on software development projects to support the development and integration of SaaS solutions.
• Must have experience with VM and containerisation technologies and expertise in Windows and/or UNIX/Linux system administration.
• Familiar with cloud technologies (AWS, Azure, etc).
• Must have a suitable background to qualify and maintain an Australian Defence security clearance.
• Must have a current Australian drivers' license and passport.

What Will Help You On The Job:

• Knowledgeable in programming technologies (REST API, JSON, Python, Bash and PowerShell).
• Familiar with tools such as Plixer and PRTG.
• Familiar with database design, implementation and/or administration.
• Familiar with front-end technologies (HTML, CSS, JavaScript).
• Microsoft Office applications (Word, Excel, PowerPoint), including Microsoft Visio.
• Cisco CCNA or CCNP certification.
• Formal qualifications in Workplace Training and Assessment.
• Formal qualifications in Project Management.
