As a full-time Golf Shop Assistant at Mornington Golf Club, you will play a crucial role in ensuring the smooth operation of the Golf Shop and provide exceptional service to our Members and visitors. Your responsibilities will include, but are not limited to:
1. Customer Service:
- Welcoming in a friendly and professional manner.
- Assist customers in selecting golf equipment, apparel, and accessories based on their needs and preferences.
- Process transactions accurately and efficiently using our point-of-sale system
- Assisting with enquiries, tee time bookings, equipment rentals, and purchases.
- Providing information about the golf course, services, and promotions.
- Handling complaints or concerns promptly and effectively.
- Maintain a clean and organised retail environment.
2. Merchandising:
- Assist with inventory management, including receiving, stocking, and organising merchandise.
- Maintaining cleanliness and organisation of the retail space.
- Creating visually appealing displays to showcase golf equipment, apparel, and accessories.
- Monitoring stock levels and recommending reorders as needed.
- Assist with inventory management and monthly stock takes.
3. Sales:
- Engaging with Members and customers to understand their needs and preferences.
- Provide product knowledge and recommendations to customers.
- Processing transactions accurately using point-of-sale (POS) systems.
- Meeting or exceeding sales targets and goals set by management.
4. Administrative Tasks:
- Answering phone calls and responding to emails.
- Assisting with scheduling tee times and competitions.
- Assisting with tournament / competition operations
- Recording and maintaining accurate records of transactions, inventory, and customer information.
- Assisting with administrative duties as assigned by management.
- Computer skills in Microsoft Office & MiClub, an advantage
5. Golf Course Support:
- Help coordinate golf events and promotions hosted by the shop.
- Player registration
- Pace of play monitoring.
- Golf cart management and ensuring golf carts are clean, charged, and ready for use.
- Coordinate, issue, clean & maintain sport hire equipment
- Assist with course marshalling, driving range operations and organising golf events
- Demonstrating a sound knowledge of golfing rules and operations
Qualifications:
- Previous experience in retail, customer service, or a golf-related environment is preferred.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
- Knowledge of golf equipment, terminology, and industry trends is advantageous.
- Ability to multitask, prioritize, and work effectively in a fast-paced environment.
- Proficiency in basic computer skills and familiarity with point-of-sale systems.
- Flexible schedule, including weekends and holidays.
- Physical ability to lift and move golf equipment and merchandise.
- Passion for golf and knowledge of golf equipment, apparel, and accessories.
