About the role:
Governance & Secretariat is responsible for managing many of the governance functions of the University, principally through advice and support of the University’s governing bodies. This team plays an important role in building and preserving stakeholder confidence in the management of the University.
As part of the Office of the Vice-Chancellor, you will work within a supportive and experienced team to manage and co-ordinate Committees and their processes (including high quality executive and secretarial support). There will also be opportunity to learn new skills and knowledge as part of broader portfolio projects.
The role requires high-level organisational, administrative, written and oral skills.
An example of duties you may perform will include:
Provision of high-level organisational and administrative leadership including preparing work plans, agendas, minutes and review and evaluation of operation of the Committees.
Preparation of reports with recommendations.
Consultation and collaboration with key stakeholders, internal and external.
Planning, developing, implementing and reviewing programs/projects/systems involving major change which may impact on other areas of the institution's operations.
Good understanding of Federal and State government legislation and policies related to the tertiary sector.
This is a full-time position at a HEP 8 classification, $102,256 - $115,153 (+4% from 1 March 2024) plus 17% superannuation, working 36.75 hours per week over a continuing contract period.
About you:
The successful candidate will have an understanding of governance or have a quasi-legal background, with support of senior governance committees seen as highly desired experience. They will be able to negotiate, influence and problem solve with key stakeholders including senior management and committee members as well as be comfortable taking direction. The successful candidate will have capacity to work on multiple projects simultaneously and deliver high quality results in a complex environment. The team are looking for someone who is flexible, personable and service oriented but who also has a commitment to continuous improvement and innovative practice.
