Our medical practitioners deliver high quality sexual and reproductive health care to those people accessing Family Planning Tasmania clinics. This includes long-acting reversible contraception, sexual health checks, women’s health, pessary fitting, endometriosis and pelvic pain, medication terminations of pregnancy, and more.
The PositionWe are looking for a female doctor to fill one or two sessions, morning and/or afternoon, to provide sexual and reproductive healthcare on a casual/contract/locum arrangement.
All GPs that work at Family Planning need a Sexual and Reproductive Health (SRH) Certificate from the Family Planning Alliance of Australia. The good news is that the theory component of the certificate can be completed online with Family Planning Victoria, rather than travelling to the mainland. So now is the perfect time to specialise without leaving the state.
For doctors interested in a long-term commitment, funding may be available.

The staff and Board of Family Planning Tasmania are committed to providing services in a manner that recognises the rights of individuals to be consistently treated with a non-judgmental, non-discriminatory, considerate manner, respecting their right to privacy and confidentiality.

- We also provide ongoing professional development opportunities to its GPs in all areas of sexual and reproductive health, including IUD insertion training and Medication Termination of Pregnancy provision.
- We are the only federally funded service in Tasmania offering a multidisciplinary approach to endometriosis and persistent pelvic pain, which is an exciting new space to work in.
- We provide a collegial and supportive environment, supported by regional medical officers and a range of disciplines.
- Sociable, flexible hours, with no out-of-hours.
