City of Newcastle (CN) has a fantastic opportunity for a Graduate Accountant to join the Corporate Finance team.

The Graduate Accountant will be a motivated accounting or commerce graduate who is eager to apply their tertiary knowledge in a practical setting. The successful candidate will be an integral part of the Corporate Finance Team, assisting and advising within both the Reporting & Systems team as well as the Asset & Treasury team. You will acquire diverse accounting skills from your time in both teams and be involved in the preparation of monthly reconciliations, taxation returns, financial statements, and asset processing preparation.

This role will allow you to grow and develop professionally within your chosen industry at a local government level. You will be interpreting and applying accounting standards and legislative requirements for accrual accounting, budgeting and reporting in the local government environment in accordance with Australian Accounting standards and the office of Local Government’s Code of Accounting Practice and Financial Reporting.
