The Role
Southern Ports has an exciting pipeline of civil and infrastructure projects to be delivered at our regional ports over the coming years. We are looking for candidates who are motivated and looking to progress a career within projects to join our Graduate Contracts and Procurement program.
Reporting to the Senior Category Specialist, you will play a vital role, supporting our procurement function and ensuring the successful delivery of Southern Ports’ project pipeline.
Ideal candidates will have an academic background in quantity surveying, construction management or similar and be looking to develop themselves within the civil and project contract administration or contract management disciplines.

This 2-year fixed-term, full-time role is available in Bunbury, Albany, Esperance, or Perth, and travel to each of our locations is anticipated as part of.
Key Duties
  • Support Senior Category Specialist and Category Specialist deliver assigned category objectives and targets.
  • Support end-to-end contracting and Procurement activities, actively participating in sourcing events and contributing to the evaluation of offers.
  • Conduct market research and analysis to support strategy development and decision making.
  • Support the administration of contracts including variations, change requests, milestone payments and contract securities.
  • Contribute to the management of contracts as needed, actively participating in project administration and project controls, and collaborating with our project delivery team to ensure effective contract oversight.
  • Attend site meetings to support project delivery.
  • Provide support and advice to key stakeholders, ensuring adherence to procurement policies and procedures and maintaining a high level of compliance.
  • Support supplier performance and relationship management through performance reporting and participation in performance review meetings.
  • Support Category Specialists to establish purchase orders aligned to the awarded form of contract.
  • Update and maintain the contract records register and closely monitor crucial milestones to support project outcomes.
  • Participate in our Microsoft D365 Project team as required and facilitate vendor onboarding using our Felix vendor management platform, gaining exposure to the latest technologies and innovative solutions.
The Expertise
  • Tertiary qualification in quantity surveying, construction management, business, commerce, legal or a related field.
  • Industrial experience would be beneficial.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Proficient in using MS Office applications, including Excel and Word.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, and the ability to collaborate seamlessly with internal and external stakeholders for project success.
Requirements
  • Hold Australian citizenship or permanent residency.
  • Ability to travel to other Southern Ports locations.
  • Possess a valid WA C Class Driver’s Licence.
  • Ability to obtain and maintain a Maritime Security Access Card.
  • Mandatory pre-employment medical assessment, including drug and alcohol testing.
