Job description

Operating from within the Water Resource Management (WRM) Branch you will be involved in managing the regulatory framework that supports Queensland’s greatest challenge of a reliable and sustainable future for our precious water resources.
Our department works collaboratively with diverse communities to ensure environmentally and socially sustainable use of our water resources.
As one of our graduates you will be involved in the cycle of water resource management, from water planning informed by community consultation and science, to water licensing enabling legal water use by industry and Water users to water monitoring and compliance that ensures our water resources are fairly and appropriately used in accordance with water plans and environmental conditions.

The Department of Regional Development, Manufacturing and Water (DRMDW) drives growth for Queensland by managing sustainable water resources, leading innovation in manufacturing, and developing our regions. From our offices in Brisbane and a network of regional offices and manufacturing hubs, more than 580 DRDMW staff work to create a Queensland where communities, businesses and Water resources are sustainable and resilient.
With water offices located in Cairns, Ayr, Townsville, Mackay, Rockhampton, Gladstone, Bundaberg, Gympie, Brisbane, Toowoomba, Warwick, Longreach, and Goondiwindi, graduates from across Queensland are encouraged to apply.
WRM has diverse roles that include water planning using science, research and modelling; natural resource management using great communication skills and understanding of resource management principles working with water customers about their water use and management; and monitoring and compliance roles that support Queenslanders accessing water for agricultural or industry use to understand their regulatory obligations and ensure equitable and sustainable access for everyone.

To be considered for appointment you must have a degree or higher qualification, from a recognised Tertiary Institution in Environmental Planning, Environmental Science, Natural Resource Management or agreed equivalent.
