As a Graduate WHS Officer, you will have the opportunity to support the implementation, maintenance and optimisation of the work health and safety systems to enhance business efficiency, streamline processes and drive data informed decisions. In addition to this, you will get the opportunity to rotate through different teams across RAA. During these rotations, you will get the opportunity to develop your skills through practical, hands-on, and strategic WHS activities such as (but not limited to):

  • Assist in monitoring and analysing data, including employee feedback obtained through surveys, while also streamlining processes and improving the self-service capabilities for employees.
  • Create reports and dashboards using WHS systems to offer insights into critical WHS metrics, trends, and performance indicators.
  • Observe, evaluate, and report on RAA's safety performance.
  • Aid in planning and scoping streamlined WHS Processes and workflows, including defining requirements and prioritising tasks for automation using workflow automation tools.
  • Work closely with stakeholders to map current processes, pinpoint pain points, and devise solutions to boost efficiency, accuracy, and employee satisfaction.
  • Utilise risk assessment tools and methodologies to quantify risks and prioritise mitigation efforts.
  • Conduct periodic inspections, audits, and evaluations to identify any emerging risks or deficiencies in existing controls.
  • Collaborate closely with the WHS team and relevant stakeholders in managing incidents effectively.
  • Ensure the incident reporting system is up to date, prioritising data integrity.

About you  

You are a confident and passionate self-motivated individual who enjoys working in a high performing culture. You’re passionate about helping our community (and members) and want to make a difference.

For this role, we’re also looking for:

  • Currently studying a bachelor’s degree in work/occupational health and safety, psychology, regulation and compliance, social sciences, human resources management, business administration, or a related field, due to complete in 2024 or completed in 2023.
  • Understanding of work health and safety principles, practices, and regulatory requirements, including relevant laws, compliance standards, and confidentiality requirements.
  • Exceptional organisational skills, with the ability to manage multiple priorities simultaneously.
  • Results orientated and continually searching for ways to add value and achieve value.
  • Ability to persist through adversity and pressure, responding positively and calmly.
  • Accountability and commitment to meet deadlines, particularly across concurrent projects and priorities.
  • Teamwork demonstrated through extracurricular activities (e.g. sports, clubs, work, societies)
  • Passion for learning and self-improvement.
  • 5.0 GPA or minimum credit average.
