The Role
We are currently seeking dedicated and passionate Grounds staff to join our high-performing and output-driven Grounds Team at our Rookwood General Cemetery site located at Rookwood (Lidcombe), NSW.
As a Grounds team member, you will play a crucial role in maintaining general grounds and gardening operations. Duties include, but are not limited to:
- Performing grounds maintenance tasks, including turf maintenance, pest and disease control, pruning, hedging, fertilising, and minor building maintenance.
- Utilising a range of motorised garden equipment.
- Engaging in general landscape construction activities.
- Assisting in planting trees, shrubs and annuals, including following planting plans.
- Effectively communicating with Funeral Directors, families and visitors.
- Providing additional support to the Burials and Crematorium team when necessary.
About You:
The successful candidate will possess a mature outlook and a positive “can-do” attitude with an ability to perform duties with empathy and professionalism.
Ideally, you will have:
- Previous experience in park and garden maintenance.
- A White Card (or willing to obtain).
- Passion for working outdoors and ability to work in all weather conditions.
- Enjoyment working in a dynamic environment with changing priorities.
- Initiative, self-motivation, and ability to contribute to planning and scheduling.
- Punctuality, reliability, presentability, respect and empathy.
- Ability to work both unsupervised and as part of a cohesive team.
- Strong attention to detail.
- A current, unrestricted driver’s license (essential).
- Trade qualifications and proven experience in a similar role (highly regarded but not essential).
