We’re seeking an experienced Groundsman to join our team at Saints Catholic College
You’ll support the Maintenance supervisor across our residential facility, with duties including:
- General grounds upkeep, landscaping, irrigation installation and repairs
- Support with repairs in rooms, preventative maintenance and refurbishment projects during academic breaks
- Develop and deliver propagation systems, summer and winter gardening programs including pruning and feeding programming
- General maintenance over the course of the academic year
What you’ll need:
Experience in gardening/landscape/grounds maintenance, including:
- Knowledge of herbicides, pesticides and safe work practices
- Experience in propagation of Australian native plants
- An in depth understanding of plant positioning and effective use of shade and space.
- An in depth understanding of plant maintenance including pruning and feed cycles.
- Horticultural certifications preferred, not required.
- Handyman skills an advantage.
- Current Open driver’s license

Selection Criteria
- Recent and significant experience in a similar role in either hospitality or student accommodation.
- Proven organisational skills
- Proven ability to manage competing tasks
- Must be competent to work autonomously and have sound judgement and decision-making skills
- Must be creative, innovative and be outcome focused
- Experience in a collegiate environment and/or education is not a necessity but is an advantage.
- Must have an eye for detail and hold a high bar for quality and aesthetics of works performed.
Requirements
- Availability and willingness to work outside standard hours as reasonably required
- Working with Children Blue Card (or capacity to obtain one)
- Current and satisfactory National Criminal History Records Check
- Current First Aid Certificate (or willingness to obtain or update)
