Our client is an ASX publicly listed Perth based leading diversified mid-tier gold producer with a strong balance sheet and is well positioned for continued growth and expansion.
The Position
- To provide input and oversight of Health and Safety Policies, Standards, operational Mine Safety Management Systems (MSMS), auditing and compliance with WHS Laws and Safety legislation.
- Provide advice and guidance to the COO, other Corporate Leaders and Site Operational Leaders
- Working with the Corporate Leadership Team, identify key Work Health and Safety priorities and improvement opportunities to support the company’s strategic objectives.
- Development, implementation and management of the corporate Health and Safety policy, audit and compliance framework oversight of the Company’s operations.
- Ensure the design and implementation of corporate and site operational MSMS complies with the legislation.
- Develop, conduct, monitor and report on appropriate audit programs to ensure compliance with legislation.
- Provide WHS technical advice and support to site General Managers and OHS leaders, including recommendations on, legislation development and emerging WHS best practice.
- Liaise with relevant authorities and regulatory bodies in support of site based WHS issues as appropriate.
The Person
- Will suit a proven operational mining Safety Manager with corporate experience or otherwise be seeking to progress their career into a corporate position
- Relevant experience and knowledge, ideally gained within similar mining or resources-based industry
- Thorough understanding of WA Work Health and Safety legislation, regulations and relevant Codes of Practice
- Proven experience in major and/or serious potential incident investigation and Safety auditing
- A sound knowledge of risk management practices and risk-based decision making
- Proven self-starter who can work independently on tasks or within a team to achieve successful outcomes
- Proven strategic thinker with skills to convert strategy into action with demonstrated results
- Strong interpersonal communication skills with the ability to engage with stakeholders both internally and externally
- Knowledge of a broad range of Safety Systems, procedures, risk assessments, hierarchy of controls and investigation tools, Safety standards with the ability to facilitate and lead these
- Demonstrated ability to lead and manage change, drive CI initiatives and achieve measurable results
- The willingness to travel to various mine sites and locations as needed
- Tertiary qualifications in a Health Science, Occupational Health & Safety or the like
