Hardware/Embedded Engineer

Seitec is looking for a skilled and competent Hardware/Embedded Engineer to help advance our seismic technology. Our tech is all about detecting and tracking targets of interest from bomb impacts through to footsteps. You will be working as part of a skilled team developing new technology and solving hard problems.

Position: Hardware/Embedded Engineer

Location: Fyshwick ACT

Type: Full-time

Salary: $110k to $140k + super (dependant on skill and experience)

Key Responsibilities:

• Design, develop and optimise hardware and embedded systems for our products.
• Work with our Senior Embedded Engineer to design and develop schematics and PCB layouts.
• Firmware development.
• PCB production (population will be done offsite).
• Conduct hardware testing and troubleshooting to ensure product functionality.
• Collaborate with software engineers to integrate hardware and software components.
• Work with a small team to ensure hardware is delivered and integrated in line with project timelines. 
• Conduct research on new hardware technologies and suggest improvements to existing products.
• Document design specifications, testing procedures, and project progress.
• Support manufacturing teams with hardware-related issues.

 Our ideal candidate will have the following:

• Strong communication skills and preference for working in a small close-knit team
• Bachelor’s or master’s degree in, Mechatronics Engineering, Electronics Engineering, Electrical Engineering or a related field
• Strong understanding of hardware design and development, including digital and analogue circuits, microcontrollers, and sensors
• 5+ years’ experience with hardware design, firmware development or both.
• Ability to write low level drivers and familiar with programming on the metal.
• Familiarity with (or willingness to learn) SPI, I2C, SD Card, UART, USB, Ethernet, Bluetooth. 
• Comfortable with reading data sheets and implementing otherwise unfamiliar hardware.
• Familiar with Altium or Circuit Studio
• Desirable to have experience in digital, analogue, power, and basic RF PCB design. 
• Excellent problem-solving skills and attention to detail
• Strong communication skills and ability to work in a team environment.
