About Bejo:

Bejo Australia is a leading company in the field of vegetable seed production. Bejo aims to collaborate with growers and the community to produce high-quality seeds. They maintain a solid connection to their roots as a wholly owned subsidiary of Bejo Zaden, a family-owned Dutch company headquartered in the Netherlands. Bejo's operations in Tasmania focuses on cultivating hybrid carrot, beet, brassica and onion seed. With a dedicated team of 50 employees from various departments such as Operations, Agronomy, Administration, and Production Research.

Your Role:

Join Bejo Australia's dynamic Northern Midlands, Tasmania team in a dual-focus role. From February to April, you'll serve as the Northern Midlands Harvest Coordinator, overseeing broadacre harvesting logistics, maintaining high hygiene standards for machinery, and coordinating external harvesting contractors and other crop activities. This role includes office administration, field oversight, and supporting agricultural production.

Key Duties:

Peak Season Responsibilities:

  • Coordinate, manage, and communicate harvest and roguing planning and staffing preparation.
  • Collaborate with field officers to hand over crops to the harvest coordinator.
  • Maintain high-level record keeping and report crop issues to the appropriate department.
  • Regularly check crops, drying facilities, and threshing machines to ensure hygiene and efficiency.
  • Build strong relationships with contractors and farmers to facilitate smooth operations.
  • Perform or arrange training for operational staff on harvest activities and equipment.
  • Motivate and manage operational staff.
  • Be willing to work outside of regular hours during the harvest period.
  • To facilitate the logistics of receiving seeds for drying and storage.

In the off-season, your role is equally vital. You will act as the 2IC to the Northern Midlands Operations Manager, supporting the operational team with general farm activities to ensure safe and efficient day-to-day operations.

Off-Season Responsibilities:

  • Assist the Northern Midlands manager with planning and preparation for planting, crop production, and crop protection.
  • Be prepared to support the seed cleaning facility as needed.
  • Operate tractors, forklifts, MR trucks, towing trailers, and other farm equipment, including irrigation systems.
  • Perform general duties such as general farmhand work, chemical spraying, and fertiliser application.
  • Contribute to the development of a strong safety culture within Bejo.

To be considered for the role, you must meet the following criteria:

  • Relevant industry agricultural experience (desired but not essential).
  • Strong organisational and communication skills.
  • Advanced computer literacy and problem-solving abilities.
  • Exceptional attention to detail and ability to manage data effectively.
  • Australian Driver Licence.
