Job description

We are a local horticulture business that requires up to 700 staff to fulfil our requirements for the 2024/25 citrus season. Our peak intake period is from March to June, working for a period of 6-9 months. Another intake is generally available July/August running through the summer period until March/April. As a large farm, some roles are available year round.
These roles involve completing a variety of duties including citrus picking, thinning, packing, crop care, and general farm labouring, cleaning, housekeeping and farm office administration. Experiences and licences are not required for these level 1 roles.
Higher level roles are also available including and tractor/truck/forklift operators, team leaders and supervisors.
Most positions are offered on a casual basis however up to 50 roles are available year round on an ongoing full time basis.
Farm labour roles are physically demanding and require employees to be physically fit and capable of performing the repetitive and demanding nature of the work including carrying of weight up to 20kgs, frequent ladder climbing, bending, squatting, stacking cartons on the box-line (up to 20kg), pre-packs, auto-packers, floor-general, container-loading, computer-pack, receivals, despatch or any other general farming and packing duties designated by a supervisor/leading hand, throughout a shift. Administration roles involve a variety of manual and computer based clerical duties including document processing, reconciliations, reception etc, with hours primarily on weekdays.
The hours and location of work for citrus picking will vary daily depending on weather conditions and market demands, however do require early starts and late finishes. Own transport required as work is on located on remote rural properties, including Renmark, Murtho, Paringa, Pike Creek, Loxton and Lindsay Point. You must be able to work weekdays and weekends and public holidays.
Citrus picking is mostly paid on piece rates, all other farm labouring and crop care roles are paid on an hourly rate. Level 1 farm roles are paid in accordance with the Vitor Citrus Harvest Agreement 2021.
Packing roles are paid in accordance with the Vitor Citrus Packhouse Agreement 2020-2024. Packing roles may require afternoon/evening shift work during peak periods, and regular weekends and public holidays.
Higher level roles are also available including and tractor/truck/forklift operators, team leaders, supervisors. These roles are paid in accordance with the Horticulture Award 2020.
Tractor, truck and forklift operators are paid at level 2 and 3.
Assistant Supervisor and Supervisor roles start at L2, increasing to L5.
Office/administration roles are paid in accordance with the Clerks Private Sector Award, starting at Level 1, increasing up to Level 3.
Workers interested in further skill development or progression within the business are encouraged to speak with the Supervisor regarding opportunities such as obtaining a forklift or truck licence, first aid training, or leadership development to progress to supervisory roles. Progression opportunities will be assessed on an individual basis taking into account the needs of the business, performance and attendance record.
To be successful in these role you will:
Have the ability to undertake strenuous work activities for extended periods of time, including in adverse weather conditions
Be willing and able to work the abovementioned rostered shifts and hours
Good fine and gross motor skills
Willing and able to complete picking and general crop work and farm duties
Be a strong team player with a positive attitude
Commit to work for at least a 6 month period
Have excellent attention to detail and be self-motivated
Have your own reliable transport to and from the sites
