The Roles
We are currently seeking packhouse supervisors who will be responsible for overseeing teams and assisting with sections of the the day to day operations of sorting, grading, and packing fruit in preparation for transport.
The available roles are:
- Packing and Grading Floor Supervisor
- Head Quality Supervisor
- Receivables Supervisor (forklift ticket required)
- Dispatch and Post-Pack Supervisor
Technical training for all roles is provided, but you will need to have had some experience in supervising teams. Reporting to the Packhouse Manager, all roles involve:
- Being trained, and training others
- Accuracy and diligence
- Some administrative tasks
- Reviewing, reporting and planning
- Being a hands-on team member
- Liaising with others to share information and coordinate activities
The Seasons
The roles start with the start of harvest, and finish when it is over. The local harvest seasons are typically:
- Katherine - early September through to December
- Townsville / Ayr - November to end December
- Mareeba - mid November to mid April
If you are available for some times and locations, but not others, that's probably fine. There is some overlap, but if your preference is to start in Katherine and then switch over to Queensland, that is possible too. That way you can choose to work at one or more of those locations, as you prefer.

To succeed you will need
- Staff supervision experience and interpersonal skills
- The ability to work in a fast paced, dynamic environment.
- To work comfortably and harmoniously within a multicultural team.
- A can-do, proactive approach
- A calm, positive attitude, good communications skills and willingness to do the job efficiently and effectively.
Ideally you will also have worked in a similar environment before, but it is not necessary so long as you are quick to learn, responsible, and happy working under pressure - there's plenty to be done, and not much time to do it.
