We are looking for an HC Truck Driver to join our team. As an HC Truck Driver, you will be responsible for safely operating and maneuvering our fleet of heavy combination trucks to transport bulk across South Australia.
• Safe and efficient operation of our trucks: As a Heavy Combination Truck Driver, you will be responsible for operating heavy combination trucks safely and efficiently. This includes driving the vehicle in compliance with South Australian road laws and regulations, adjusting the driving style to road and weather conditions, and following safe driving practices to minimize the risk of accidents.
• Transporting goods and materials: Transporting goods and materials across South Australia is the primary responsibility. This includes loading and unloading cargo safely, securing the load properly to prevent damage during transport, and verifying that the correct quantity and type of goods are loaded before setting off.
• Pre-trip and post-trip inspections: Before and after each trip, Drivers must complete pre-trip and post-trip inspections of their vehicle. This includes checking the oil, water, fuel, tires, brakes, and other parts of the vehicle to ensure they are in good working order. Any issues identified during the inspection must be reported and addressed promptly to avoid any safety hazards.
• Maintenance of accurate documentation: Drivers must maintain accurate logbooks, trip sheets, and other documentation related to the transport of goods and their vehicles. This includes recording the distance traveled, fuel consumption, and any issues or incidents that occurred during the trip.
• Communication with dispatchers and team members: Clear communication with dispatchers and other team members is essential for the successful delivery of goods. Drivers must communicate effectively to ensure that the delivery of goods is done smoothly and that any issues or changes to the delivery schedule are communicated promptly.
• Adherence to safety regulations and company policies: Drivers must adhere to all safety regulations and company policies to ensure the safety of themselves, their cargo, and other road users. This includes following all applicable road rules, using personal protective equipment as required, and reporting any safety hazards or incidents to their supervisor.
• Vehicle cleanliness and maintenance: Drivers are responsible for keeping their vehicles clean and well-maintained. This includes washing the vehicle regularly, ensuring that it is free of debris and litter, and reporting any mechanical issues or defects to their supervisor.
• Valid Heavy Combination (HC) or Multi-Combination (MC) driver’s license: To be eligible for the role, candidates must hold a valid and current Heavy Combination (HC) or Multi-Combination (MC) driver’s license. The license must be issued in Australia and be in good standing.
• Experience is helpful for a successful applicant but not necessary.
• Clean driving record: Candidates must have a clean driving record and be able to provide a current driving history report. This includes no history of serious traffic offenses, such as DUI or reckless driving, and no more than a certain number of demerit points on their license.
• Knowledge of Australian road laws and regulations: Drivers must have a thorough knowledge of Australian road laws and regulations, including traffic laws, speed limits, and vehicle weight limits. This knowledge is essential for ensuring compliance with regulations and avoiding accidents.
• Physical fitness and ability to perform duties: Candidates should be physically fit and able to perform duties that may require heavy lifting, including loading and unloading cargo. Drivers must also be able to sit for extended periods of time and have good hand-eye coordination and reflexes.
• Communication and interpersonal skills: Drivers must have good communication and interpersonal skills. This includes the ability to communicate effectively with dispatchers and other team members, as well as the ability to interact professionally with customers and suppliers.
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team: Drivers must be able to work independently and as part of a team. They should be able to work effectively under pressure and be able to prioritize tasks based on changing needs and deadlines.
• Availability for flexible hours: Drivers must be willing to work flexible hours and be available to work weekends and public holidays as required. This includes being able to work long hours and travel interstate if necessary.
