AddressThe Sunshine Coast Turf Club (SCTC) is one of Australia's premier Thoroughbred Racing and Training precincts. Located 1hr north of Brisbane CBD.
The Club conducts approximately 60 race meetings a year, predominantly Sundays, along with Friday Nights, Metropolitan Saturdays and Feature Days. The Club also operates various function areas for both raceday and non-raceday events.
The SCTC is seeking a full time Head Gardener to play a pivotol role in ensuring the management and meticulous upkeep of the racecourse gardens and grounds.
Working as part of the Racecourse & Facilities team, the Head Gardener will oversee all aspects of landscaping, floral arrangements and green space management to uphold the highest standards of presentation and functionality for race meetings and non-raceday events.
Responsibilities of the role include, but are not limited to:
- Develop and execute plans for design, installation and ongoing maintenance of all garden areas;
- Ensure the health, vitality and aesthetic appeal of all green spaces;
- Train and supervise staff in maintaining gardens and green space areas;
- Assist with general maintenance duties including set ups for functions as required;
- Co-ordinate with the Events team to prepare gardens for feature race meetings and events;
- Ensure compliance with all relevant health, safety and environmental regulations;
- Work with the Maintenance Manager to develop and manage budgets for garden projects;
To be successful for this role you must:
- Have a qualification in Horticulture, Turf Management, Landscape Architecture or a similar related field;
- Have proven experience in a supervisory role within the gardening/landscape industry;
- Have extensive knowledge of plant identification, cultivation techniques, soil science and landscaping principles;
- Be proficient in the operation and maintenance of landscaping equipment and irrigation systems;
- Be available to work some feature race meetings as required;
- Have strong organisational skills with the ability to prioritise tasks and manage multiple projects;
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills with a customer focused approach.
