Job description

  • Want more and better career, skills & income progression?
  • Not appreciated or well rewarded for your hard work?
  • Want your work measured against outcomes vs inputs?

Seeking a Head of Advice looking to set up their future leading a high-performing advice team.

About Pivot

We deliver highly impactful advice that adds true value to our clients, which they fully recognise through a 100% Fee-for-service advice offer with no commissions, kickbacks, or related party business referral arrangements you need to dance around.

Internally, we have a sales team that delivers a strong, steady stream of pre-signed clients, meaning our Advice team won’t need to spend time chasing prospects or running sales calls or meetings.

We’ve built a reputation in the market for being a business that looks after our people, reflected in our team equity plan, profit share, annual pay and performance reviews, flexible working arrangements, and team benefits package.

About the Opportunity

As the Head of Advice, you’ll be the guiding star for our team of advisers, providing leadership, mentorship, and technical support. You're not just overseeing the compliancy elements; you're actively contributing to the professional growth of your team and ultimately ensuring we are consistently delivering epic advice to each of our clients.

Pivot is a business that rewards team members that add value to the business, which we do through our profit share arrangement and team equity plan, along with regular pay and performance reviews. Given we’re one of the fastest growing companies in Australia, this means the right person has an opportunity to set up a prosperous long term future in the business WHILE doing highly ethical, fulfilling, fun, high quality/value work AND developing your skills in the process.

About the role
  • Take ownership of coaching a team of superstar Advisers & Associates who are collectively advising HNW accumulator clients. We intend to be an industry leading incubator of talent, guiding the best in the business today as well as the next generation of Advisers. You will be responsible for reviewing meetings and providing feedback (micro & macro), creating training programs for each team member (including PY & CPD), plus be the go to person for strategy coaching (both for technical advice queries and client/relationship management strategies).
  • The business has resources for sales, paraplanning, admin, implementation, and we want you to be a dedicated resource for supporting the teams development and the client delivery; meaning the FULL focus of the role is to work directly with our team ensuring the highest quality advice is consistently being delivered and executed in every relationship
  • With our Talent Acquisition Lead, you will instruct and execute all of the onboarding and ongoing training for all new Advisers/Associates joining the business.
  • Work in a fun, playful but professional, politics-free environment with a team of other superstars
  • Advice work is around strategic goals based financial planning, including everything from tax reduction strategies (including tax structures), investing, employer share plans, superannuation, insurance, and estate planning

The Compliancy Pieces:

You will be responsible for;

  • Ensuring the team and Pivot Wealth adhere to AFSL and ASIC regulations; where appropriate this would entail accurate and timely reporting of IDR, breaches, complaints and audits.
  • Successful preparation and completion of internal & external audits with minimal findings, carrying these out on a formal and informal basis with the support of our Compliance Consultants and Head of Paraplanning.
  • Effective remediation actions following external audit reviews + efficient handling and resolution of client complaints to maintain high client satisfaction and team training to resolve internally.
  • Oversee the APL plus non-APL requests, ensuring alignment with compliance requirements.
  • Work with our compliance and paraplanning support to ensure the maintenance of accurate and up-to-date SOA templates in line with regulatory standards.
Your ticket to the game
  • Experience as a frontline adviser/manager/coach
  • The technical skills needed to deal with high end clients with tax planning, investments, and other financial planning strategies
  • Client wrangling skills to ensure the best client results in the shortest amount of time
  • Experience charging under a strategy focused fee for service offering
  • Modelling experience i.e. Xtools+, Adviserlogic, Midwinter highly regarded
  • Licensed Authorised Representative
  • Strong compliance history and references
Why work with us?
  • Recognised by the AFR’s Fast 100 fastest growing companies in Australia, meaning significant opportunity for career progression as the business grows
  • We’re committed to appreciating, recognising, and rewarding team members who put in the work to add real value to the business and our clients
  • We undertake annual pay, bonus, and performance reviews along with an equity plan to recognise the great work being done by our top performers
  • Flexible working arrangements including hours and location (with an expectation to regularly attend our Sydney HQ)
  • Clients pre-signed by sales team meaning no prospecting, sales meetings, or cold calling
  • We have great clients that are fun to work with and (like us) don’t take themselves too seriously
  • Professional casual environment with no office politics, a young, fun team that actually get along, flat structure with full access to senior team and no hierarchy to get in the way of good ideas to make work easier
  • Nationally recognised as a leader in our space through a swag of awards for customer service, innovation, employer of the year, marketing, wellbeing and education programs and most influential advice firms in Australia
  • We have plenty of work on and are effectively oversubscribed, but manage work internally to ensure our team aren’t working beyond their capacity
