The role
As the Head of the Business Analysis Practice, the primary objective is to lead the establishment, enhancement, and implementation of agile-centric processes, methodologies, artefacts, and templates for efficient requirement gathering and business process & rules documentation across the organisation.
This role is instrumental in defining and refining Business Analysis practices, ensuring they align with agile methodologies to facilitate streamlined and effective requirement gathering processes. A significant focus lies in creating a centralised function to support and guide decentralised Product Owners and Business Analysts, fostering collaboration and standardisation across a diverse array of teams.
This hands-on role requires a leader capable of evolving the organisation's approach to requirement gathering by introducing and refining agile-centric practices, fostering collaboration, and driving continuous improvement within the Business Analysis Practice, specifically in a decentralised structure where Product Owners and Business Analysts are key stakeholders.
Responsibilities & accountabilities
- Establish Agile-Centric Practices: Drive the design and implementation of agile-based Business Analysis practices, emphasising iterative, adaptive, and collaborative approaches to requirement gathering. Develop and refine processes, frameworks, and templates tailored for agile environments, enabling effective communication and adaptation to changing business needs. Ensure the provision of sufficient and well-defined requirements that enable teams to accurately estimate and plan their work, fostering a smoother agile development & delivery cycle.
- Ensure frameworks allow for a “compliance by design” approach to drive a strong compliance culture across all teams as they build our requirements and solutions.
- Leadership of Business Analyst Team: Lead a small, focused team of Business analysts as direct reports, empowering them to take ownership of creating and refining templates, artefacts, and methodologies essential for agile requirement gathering. Provide guidance, mentorship, and foster a culture of excellence within the team. Responsible for their professional development, performance management, and ensuring alignment with organisational objectives and agile practices.
- Centralised support in a decentralised Structure: Act as a central figure in supporting and guiding Product Owners and Business Analysts across various teams. Provide hands-on expertise, mentorship, and tools necessary to ensure consistent and standardised practices, facilitating efficient requirement gathering aligned with agile principles.
- Drive Continuous Improvement: Lead ongoing enhancement of Business Analysis methodologies, artefacts, and templates. Identify areas for improvement within the requirement gathering process, optimising efficiency, accuracy, and stakeholder satisfaction. Encourage a culture of continuous improvement and adaptation within the Business Analysis Practice team.
- Stakeholder Collaboration and Education: Collaborate closely with Product Owners and Business Analysts to ensure a shared understanding of agile requirement gathering practices. Conduct training sessions, workshops, and knowledge-sharing activities to disseminate best practices and foster a culture of agile-centric requirement analysis across the organisation
Qualifications & Experience
- Bachelor's degree in Business Administration, Computer Science, or related field. Advanced degree or certifications in Agile methodologies (e.g., CSPO, CBAP and/or AAC) preferred.
- Extensive hands-on experience in Business Analysis or related fields, demonstrating a strong understanding of agile methodologies and practices.
- Proven track record of implementing agile-centric processes for requirement gathering within decentralised structures across large organisations.
- Expertise in developing and utilising Business Analysis tools, techniques, and frameworks in an agile environment.
- Exceptional communication skills, capable of collaborating effectively with diverse stakeholders, particularly Product Owners and Business Analysts, and fostering a culture of agility and innovation within the Business Analysis Practice.
