The Role:

DT Infrastructure is actively seeking a strategic professional to assume the role of Head of Defence in a senior leadership capacity. The successful candidate will bring a wealth of experience and expertise in defence infrastructure projects, demonstrating strong leadership qualities and a proven track record of successful project delivery within the defence sector.

Your key responsibilities include formulating and executing comprehensive strategies for defence projects, ensuring alignment with DT Infrastructure’s objectives.

Reporting to the Chief Officer Strategy & Growth, you will have the unique opportunity to shape the direction of Defence-related initiatives within DT Infrastructure, contributing to the company's growth and strategic positioning in the defence infrastructure sector. We have the pedigree and now it’s time to really build and develop at this exciting time in the industry.

Location: We are flexible on where you'd like to be based - Brisbane, Sydney, Melbourne, Perth, Canberra, or Adelaide.

Core Responsibilities:

  • Develop and execute a strategic vision for defence-related projects in alignment with the organization's overall goals.
  • Build leadership and direction to the defence projects team.
  • Oversee the planning, execution, and delivery of Defence infrastructure projects, ensuring they meet quality, budget, and timeline requirements.
  • Build and maintain strong relationships with defence clients, understanding their unique needs and requirements.
  • Lead and drive business development initiatives, identifying new opportunities, forging key partnerships, and ensuring our sustained growth in a rapidly evolving market.
  • Build and lead a high-performing team, providing mentorship and guidance to ensure successful project delivery.
  • Drive innovation in defence projects, exploring new technologies and approaches to enhance project efficiency and outcomes.
  • Implement and maintain quality assurance processes to ensure the highest standards in the delivery of Defence infrastructure projects.
  • Engage with various stakeholders, including government agencies, military entities, and regulatory bodies, to build partnerships and ensure project success.

About You:

  • An accomplished and highly experienced operator within Defence sector.
  • Tertiary degree or higher qualification in a relevant field such as Project Management, Engineering, Business Administration, or related discipline
  • Substantial experience in project management, particularly within the defence sector, is crucial/mandatory. This may include managing defence infrastructure projects, collaborating with military entities, or working on projects with government agencies.
  • Demonstrated competency in one or more specialist area: aviation, training ranges, secure communications facilities, maritime, base services planning, logistics and base master planning.
  • Strong leadership skills to lead teams effectively and provide direction to achieve results.
  • Ability to think strategically and contribute to the development and execution of the organisation’s strategy.
  • In-depth understanding of the defence sector, including familiarity with military protocols, specifications, and regulations
  • Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal
  • A forward-thinking mindset and openness to innovation. The ability to integrate new technologies and approaches into defence projects.
  • Depending on the nature of Defence projects, security clearance may be required.
