We are seeking a Head of Delivery to lead the operations of the ANZ Tech foundations business. The role requires engineering, service delivery, and service management extensive experience. Candidate will have held technical responsibility for the development, implementation, and testing of multiple major information system, and supporting infrastructure.
The role is an executive position, focusing on four key capabilities as described below.
Key capabilities

  • Rounded delivery executive: the position requires the ability to manage the
engineering but also the service delivery and service management
  • Deep IT knowledge: the position requires deep understanding of DWP, IAS, PAS, NW,
integration services (both technology and infrastructure), tooling, reporting. The ideal
candidate tech knowledge is up to date, follows and is aware of latest IT trends
  • Commercial acumen: the position requires an understanding of commercials feasibility
and impact when it comes to solutions/options proposed and recommended to
customers. The Head of Delivery must be able to work on commercial solutions with the
Client Executive Partner (CEP) and the CEO
  • People:
o Client: the role requires a capacity to understand client needs and be able to clearly
communicate on technology. The ability to demonstrates control, confidence and
maturity is key to ensure long-lasting client relationships
o Team members: the position requires the ability to build and manage a team of
technologists and engineers, as well as anticipating, preparing, and training the
team to fit the future client and business needs
Required prior knowledge and skills
  • Shows evidence of analytical ability and attention to detail. Appreciates the importance
of commercial constraints.
  • Has a comprehensive knowledge of all stages of systems development, and
infrastructure provision and management from specification to implementation to
running.
  • Has an excellent good general knowledge of IS and IT technical developments and
practices, both inside and outside own organisation.
  • Demonstrates good communication skills in dealing with users, other staff, systems
developers and equipment/service suppliers.
  • Is respected for the pragmatic application of IT engineering and management principles
to practical problems.
  • Is an authority on the systems development life-cycle and typical problems associated
with the implementation of information systems, from initial concept through
development and implementation to operation and support.
  • Has detailed practical knowledge of the organisation's ICT infrastructure and software
development and maintenance methods, tools and techniques.
  • Is conversant with the organisation's ICT strategy, policies and standards.
  • Has a sound knowledge of change management, configuration management, reliability
and safety methods and the use of metrics. Is skilled in project risk management.
  • Demonstrates effective leadership of a team of staff engaged in the delivery of
networked information systems services, together with a good working knowledge of
the employing organisation's policy framework, management structures and
procedures for service delivery.
  • Displays above average communication and negotiation skills and a good
understanding of the commercial and other needs and objectives of the users of the
networked information system services provided, particularly in respect of those
services.
Technical knowledge and skills
  • Software tools which automate or assist part of the development process
  • Standards associated with the practitioner's current Role. Examples: safety standards,
departmental programming standards, organisational network performance standards,
help desk procedures, corporate quality and change management processes, IT
Infrastructure Library
  • Knowledge of the ICT infrastructure (hardware, databases, operating systems, local area
networks etc) used within own organisation
  • The control and management of ICT assets (or configuration items) including hardware,
software, documentation, services, suppliers and network facilities by the use and
application of strict change management and recording.
  • The collection, analysis and application of historical and synthetic measurements in the
estimation of IS activities. Examples: function point analysis, lines of code.
  • Knowledge of the ICT infrastructure (hardware, databases, operating systems, local area
networks etc.) used within own organisation.
  • Methods, processes and techniques concerned with quality assurance planning,
software quality evaluation, creation of quality processes, configuration management,
and quality reviews and audits.
  • The planning and management of the interaction between two or more networking
systems, computers or other "intelligent" devices.
  • Rules for the inter-operation of networking components.
Other Knowledge and Skills
  • Relevant national and international legislation.
  • Methods and techniques for delivering effective presentations.
  • Methods and techniques for the assessment and management of business risk. Methods
and techniques associated with planning and monitoring progress of projects. The
identification, assessment and management of project risks, which could result in time
or cost over-runs, or failure to deliver products which are fit for purpose. Examples:
product/work breakdown structures, critical path analysis, earned value, resource
analysis, conflict resolution. The functional structure of businesses and other
organisations; their mission, objectives, strategies and critical success factors.
  • Techniques for ensuring that full account is taken of customers' real and stated needs
in the delivery of products and services.
  • Principles, methods, techniques and tools for the effective management of projects
from initiation through to implementation.
  • Methods and techniques associated with planning and monitoring progress of projects.
