About the Opportunity

Reporting to the General Manager Capability Development, the Head of Engineering is accountable for leading the development and subsequent management of ASC’s engineering resources in support of the SSN AUKUS Program.

Acting as ASC’s Engineering Lead, the Head of Engineering will support the development and execution of the SSN-AUKUS engineering workforce demand profile, in collaboration with ASC’s Joint Partners.

In this role, the incumbent will be required to maintain a strategic perspective on the entire business, considering long-term issues, opportunities, and risks to ensure ongoing success, whilst providing leadership to team members, setting direction and establishing challenging performance targets.


Responsibilities

  • Lead the development and management of Engineering resources for the SSN AUKUS Program
  • Provide leadership to team members, setting direction and establishing challenging performance targets.
  • Be prepared for periodic or regular overseas travel


About You

  • Tertiary qualifications in Engineering (masters preferred).
  • Professional certifications/memberships in an engineering field.
  • Post-graduate qualifications in engineering or a related discipline.
  • Minimum of 10 years’ experience in a senior engineering management role, preferably in the defence, shipbuilding, or energy sector.
  • Strong knowledge of Engineering regulatory requirements.
  • Demonstrated ability to identify and implement high-quality solutions to complex problems.
  • Proven experience in leading high-performing teams in complex and high-stakes environments.
  • Ability to set clear organisational standards and guardrails.


Eligibility

This role requires a current National Police Clearance, an Australian Defence Security Clearance and an ability to access protected US defence technology. Your eligibility for this role is dependent on you obtaining and maintaining such clearances and approvals.

Whilst ASC will accept all applications for this role, as this role requires an ability to access protected US defence technology, applicants holding nationality of certain foreign countries will not be eligible.
