As a Head of Institutional, Business Governance and Controls, GCC you’ll play a key role in helping as ANZ’s Institutional Division operates globally provides world class solutions for our institutional clients across Australia, New Zealand, Asia, Europe, and America, including Papua New Guinea and the Middle East. ANZ Institutional aims to be the best bank in the world for clients driven by regional trade and capital flows.

BG&C is an ANZ’s Control Officer role in our Non-Financial Risk Framework. It is one of Seven critical accountability families across the Three Lines of Defence, that operate within the Group Risk Management Framework to ensure ANZ manages non-financial risk within appetite.

The role is the conduit between the Global Function and its Global Capability Centre presence. It leads the workforce of BG&C professionals in the GCC, building the required capability, culture and opportunities to effectively support the Control Officer function across our Institutional businesses and countries. This will include applying the I.AM Amplified framework requirements to day-to-day processes and aligning with the NFR Operating Model

What will your day look like

  • Drive cultural change and embed the Non-Financial Risk (NFR) Framework and policies as the Line 1 SME.

  • Measure and monitor NFR to ensure Line 1 operates within the Framework and Risk Appetite.

  • Partner with Risk Owners for end-to-end risk management, including identification, assessment, control, response, and monitoring.

  • Advise Control Owners on designing and implementing effective Controls for managing Line 1 risks.

  • Consolidate NFR stakeholder management, governance, and Controls effectiveness testing for Line 1.

  • Establish and execute a control monitoring and testing process, provide assurance on control effectiveness, and report to risk forums.

  • Advise on remediation plans for identified Issues and Events relevant to Controls.

  • Perform risk governance activities as required for Line 1.

  • Act as a catalyst for identifying and understanding future and emerging strategic risks relevant to Line 1.

What will you bring?

  • Extensive relevant experience in the banking and financial services sector

  • Experience leading a large workforce, preference will be given to candidates with experience of working internationally.

  • Experience navigating varied cultural contexts while leading, planning, and executing change.

  • Deep knowledge of ANZ’s Non-Financial risk framework

  • Structured and strategic thinking skills

  • Ability to work autonomously and collaboratively.

  • Demonstrated ability to use and apply innovative solutions to effectively manage non-financial risk.

  • Strong influencing and negotiation skills backed up by excellent communication ability, written and verbal.

  • Curiosity and an adaptive and growth mindset.

  • 20+ Years of experience in Banking domain

‘Good to have’ knowledge, skills and experiences,

  • Understanding of ANZ’s Institutional Business structure and function

  • Familiarity with the Non-Financial Risk transformation in progress

  • Experience engaging with Global teams.
