Job description

We are seeking a talented and experienced individual to join our team as the Head of Merchandise and Marketing in our ACT office. In this role, you will be responsible for leading our merchandise and marketing strategies to drive growth and enhance the overall brand presence of Independent Liquor Retailers. 

Who We Are:

Independent Liquor Retailers (ILR) was originally formed in February 2002 with an aim to become a "proudly local, truly independent" members driven group within the independent liquor space. We currently have over 400 members across Australia with an annual turnover in excess of $200 million.

Responsibilities:

  • Develop and implement merchandise and promotions strategies to optimize sales and gross profit for our members.
  • Evaluate supplier performance and seek new opportunities to expand our product offering.
  • Manage core and extended ranges across our group.
  • Manage supplier meetings and outcomes.
  • Assist CEO with Supplier terms and negotiations.
  • Manage supplier terms agreements performance.
  • Track and manage growth targets.
  • Manage promotional programs, Major, Instore, Everyday pricing and premium program and theming.
  • Ensure we maintain competitive pricing.
  • Lead the development and execution of comprehensive media plans across various channels, including digital, print, POS and social media.
  • Collaborate closely with internal teams and external partners to ensure cohesive and effective marketing initiatives.
  • Analyse market trends, consumer behaviour, and competitive landscape to identify opportunities foer growth and differentiation.
  • Manage budget allocation and resource planning to maximize return on investment for merchandise and marketing activities.
  • Foster a culture of creativity, collaboration, and continuous improvement within the ILR team.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree preferred but not essential.
  • Experience in a similar role in merchandise management and marketing within the liquor or retail industry.
  • Strong strategic planning and analytical skills, with the ability to translate insights into actionable plans.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to effectively engage and influence stakeholders at all levels.
  • Demonstrated track record of driving results and achieving targets
  • Ability to build and maintain business relationships
  • Experience with systems and process.
