About this Opportunity

Loreto College Coorparoo will re-introduce Year 5 in 2025 and Year 6 in 2026 and is seeking a Year 5/6 curriculum specialist to begin Term 2, 2024, or as negotiated.

Initially, this role will work with the College Leadership Team to plan and implement the introduction of the class of 2032. This includes integrating our award-winning teaching and learning framework, HEART, for Primary Years students, along with the broad range of co-curricular programs that support Loreto’s holistic education. This will be a non-teaching role for the remainder of 2024.

This position will become a Year 5 teaching role in 2025 with ongoing leadership of the Year 5 and 6 teachers, with specific oversight of the curriculum and pastoral programs of the Primary Years
 

Key responsibilities include:

  • Support the formation of students in the Catholic faith and the Mary Ward charism, including the planning of retreats, liturgies, and social justice initiatives in conjunction with the Director of Mission and Program Leader – Social Justice
  • Create a nurturing learning environment which is student-centred, safe, supportive, co-operative and aligned with relevant policies and practices, and organise excursions and camps, in conjunction with the Director of Pastoral Care and the Head of Student Care
  • Oversee timetables, duty rosters and calendars in conjunction with the Deputy Principal Operations and School Development
  • Assist in organising standardised testing and tracking student performance data in conjunction with the Director of Academics
  • Develop and implement the Primary Years program, in accordance with the existing College teaching and learning framework, HEART
  • Develop and implement quality curriculum programs and appropriate pedagogy in conjunction with curriculum specialists
  • Assess, provide feedback and report on student learning
  • Work with the College Leadership Team and colleagues to contribute to the professional life of the school
  • Proactively engage with professional learning to enhance student learning outcomes
  • Empower staff, students, and parents to actively engage with the school community through effective relationships
  • Effectively communicate and work in partnership with families to support each student’s personal, spiritual, and academic growth 
  • Create College newsletter material to enhance community engagement
  • Participate in College life 
  • And any other duties as requested by the College Leadership Team.

  • Proven organisational skills
  • Commitment to engage with colleagues, students, and parents/carers to achieve the Loreto College strategic intent
  • Demonstrated competence against the Australian Professional Standards for Teachers (aitsl.edu.au) across professional knowledge, practice, and engagement.
