About the Opportunity

Based in Osborne (SA), you will be reporting to the General Manager - Multi Class Sustainment (MCS) Class Services, the Head of Procurement is responsible for the execution of the ASC Enterprise Supply Chain Strategy and the ASC Enterprise Sovereign Supply Chain Strategy as it relates to MCS. The role is also responsible for the development of MCS specific Procurement strategy, ensuring best practice procurement, subcontract management, category management and purchasing processes are applied across the MCS program to achieve pre-production readiness.

The position operates within a performance-based environment in which submarine availability, reliability, capability and value for money are primary objectives. In performing this role, you will ensure the availability of materials and services to support planned and unplanned maintenance activities and submarine capability development critical to the achievement of these objectives. This requires long-term planning and exceptional stakeholder management to coordinate inputs from a range of internal and external stakeholders. In addition, the position has stewardship of approximately $300m per annum in procurement expenditure (with significant potential for growth) on behalf of ASC and the Commonwealth and therefore requires high levels of probity, transparency and accountability.

Responsibilities

  • Provide leadership to ensure team members are provided with direction and attainable yet challenging performance targets.
  • Lead approximately 4 direct reports across Procurement category teams and Procurement Integrated Project Teams supporting ASC North and West.
  • Work closely with key teams to identify procurement capability needs for the MCS Program in the short, medium and long-term timeframes.
  • Provide input to the development of the ASC Enterprise Supply Chain Strategy and the ASC Enterprise Sovereign Supply Chain Strategy as it relates to procurement.
  • Oversee contract management and supplier relationship management.
  • Lead the development, implement and maintenance of category strategies for key product and service categories.

About You 

  • Tertiary qualifications in commerce, law, supply chain, engineering or related discipline.
  • In-depth knowledge of supply chain principles and best practices.
  • Strong negotiation skills for use in large and / or complex deals.
  • A minimum of 10 years relevant business experience.
  • Knowledge of the Australian defence industry landscape, including government policies and initiatives (Desirable)
  • Experience and knowledge of strategic business planning and program management.

Eligibility

This role requires a current National Police Clearance and an Australian Defence Security Clearance. Your eligibility for this role is dependent on you obtaining and maintaining such clearance.
