The applications of our technologies are quite limitless - where there is autonomy, you will find Advanced Navigation.Overview of PositionThe company undertakes significant R&D on a range of exciting technologies including sensors, robotics, and acoustics. This role is accountable for all Subsea R&D activities and projects in a fast-paced environment. As a leader at Advanced Navigation, the Head of Subsea R&D must display brilliant people and stakeholder management skills, enabled through excellent communication & influencing skills.Role Responsibilities

  • Strong driver & influencer with ability to motivate & drive results through direct/indirect reports as well as internal & external cross-functional teams;
  • Ensure alignment of Subsea R&D strategy and objectives with that of the company;
  • Oversee successful implementation of Subsea R&D projects, Sustaining Engineering activities and business as usual tasks to ensure all engineering projects remain on schedule & on budget while meeting all performance, cost & quality specifications;
  • Transfer of new products & development of related procedures into scaled production while adhering to all applicable quality & regulatory requirements;
  • Allocates the right capabilities & capacities to the prioritised programs & projects;
  • Translate Subsea R&D strategy into actionable goals for performance & growth helping to implement operational goal setting & performance management
  • Maximise efficiency & productivity, analyse current R&D processes & performance and recommending solutions for improvement when necessary;
  • Oversee Subsea R&D teams talent productivity, building a highly inclusive culture ensuring team members thrive & Company outcomes are met;
  • Anticipate delays, initiate mitigation plans and alternative solutions;
  • Gain alignment to support goals by integrating R&D and other disciplines such as Marketing, Product, using a partnering & consultative approach;
  • Devise strategies to ensure growth of programs company-wide, identifying and implementing process improvements that will maximise output & minimise costs;
  • Work with cross-functional teams, including P&C, Operations, Finance, Support and Product to accelerate plans.
Role Requirements
  • Tertiary qualification in a related technical field;
  • Outstanding people management skills
  • Excellent stakeholder management skills
  • Experienced in delivering design solutions in a scaled production environment (min. 100 units per year)
  • Excellent written and verbal communication;
  • Proven record of delivering projects on time and with commercial outcomes, in a fast paced environment;
  • Proven record of direct and indirect management of resources and teams;
  • Ability manage high volume of information & oversee multiple project schedules;
  • Proven ability to develop innovative solutions for increased productivity;
  • Strong project management experience;
  • Experience with budget and business plan development;
  • Experience maintaining metrics and budgets;
  • Passion for personal and team development;
  • Be highly motivated with an energetic, responsive & decisive disposition;
  • Proven high standard of attention to detail, time management and “follow-through”.

  • Well developed analytical and problem solving skills and analytical skills;
