AddressHarmony Agriculture and Food Company (HAAFCO) is a vertically integrated grower and supplier of beef to domestic and international markets. It is an Australian business, which is jointly owned by Australian and Chinese investors.
Dimboola Feedlot, a property within the Harmony Agriculture and Food Company group, is located 15kms north-west of Dimboola.
We are seeking a dedicated and experienced Head Stockman to join our team. This role is crucial in ensuring the efficient management and welfare of our cattle. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in livestock management and be committed to maintaining the highest standards of animal welfare and operational efficiency.
Responsibilities include but are not limited to;
- Receiving and Loading Cattle: Manage the receiving and loading of cattle in line with industry standards, ensuring full traceability and minimizing stress or discomfort.
- Animal Health Monitoring: Daily monitoring of animal health to maintain high welfare standards, treating and monitoring as required to meet morbidity, mortality, and welfare targets.
- Management Plans: Implement appropriate management plans for each lot of cattle, developed in conjunction with the feedlot management team.
- Crush-side Processing: Ensure consistent and accurate data collection during cattle processing, maintaining full traceability and administering health treatments to maximize performance.
- Livestock Systems Reconciliation: Assist in reconciling livestock systems on-site, ensuring all systems are updated with the latest data.
- Infrastructure and Equipment Monitoring: Daily monitoring of livestock infrastructure and equipment, communicating with the feedlot management team for continual improvement and development.
- Stocktake Assistance: Assist with stocktake and notify feedlot management of low stock levels to ensure adequate quantities are available on-site.
- SOP Development: Assist in developing, implementing, and reviewing Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) relevant to the cattle team and in the property Operations Manual.
- Quality Assurance: Ensure compliance with all Quality Assurance schemes relevant to the cattle team.
- OHS Compliance: Ensure cattle team staff operate within Occupational Health and Safety (OHS) guidelines set out by the company and industry standards.
- Reporting: Provide weekly, monthly, and quarterly reports as required.
- Management Meetings: Attend relevant management meetings.
Skills and Experience;
- Proven experience in livestock management, preferably in a feedlot or similar setting.
- Strong understanding of animal welfare standards and practices.
- Excellent organizational and data management skills.
- Ability to develop and implement management plans and SOPs.
- Strong communication skills and ability to work effectively within a team.
- Knowledge of Quality Assurance schemes and OHS guidelines.
