Language Disorder Australia currently has a fantastic opportunity available for a HPE Teacher (P-12). This is a full-time permanent position commencing as soon as possible. 

About the Role 

Teaching at Language Disorder Australia is about supporting the Language Disorder Australia Mission to educate, support and advocate for children and young people with Language Disorder, so that they can connect, belong and achieve. 

As our Health & Physical Education Teacher, you will:

• Be creative. Reimagine the role. Be the HPE teacher you wanted when you were a student.
• Inspire students with your energy, enthusiasm and go-getter attitude.
• Actively encourage student voice, choice and agency
• Make fun and laughter essential elements of every lesson.
• Be prepared to fail within a safe and supportive environment where mistakes are seen learning opportunities.
• Provide outstanding teaching and learning of the Australian Curriculum HPE.
• Demonstrate ‘best practice’ teaching, lesson preparation, program development and assessment.
• Embed the use of technologies throughout the HPE curriculum.
• In collaboration with other relevant team members, develop personalised learning plans (PLP) and provide high quality educational programs to address PLP goals for specified students at the school.
• Partner and collaborate with various colleagues; including Occupational Therapists, Physiotherapists and Teachers, to organise HPE events.
• Participate in school decision-making processes and professional development activities within and beyond Language Disorder Australia.

Key Criteria 

• Possession of a qualification in teaching from an approved tertiary institution.
• Full registration, or current provisional registration as a teacher in Queensland.
• Commitment to child safety.
• Commitment to engage with colleagues, students, and parents/carers to achieve the best outcomes.
• Knowledge of best practice and procedures in relation to working with students with disability for whom language is their primary disorder.
• Knowledge and understanding of the comorbidities associated with Language Disorder, such as autism,ADHD and ASD
