Established in 1998, Katherine West Health Board (KWHB) is an Aboriginal Community Controlled organisation that provides a range of clinical, preventative and public health services to clients in the Katherine West Region of the Northern Territory. With four major health care centres and a range of satellite centres, KWHB services an area over two times the size of Tasmania (162,000km²), helping to improve the health and wellbeing of some of the most remote communities in Australia.

KWHB's vision acknowledges the distinct and diverse identity of their people and communities, ensuring member communities are involved in the planning, development and implementation of their health programs. About the Opportunity

Katherine West Health Board (KWHB) is currently looking for a Health Centre Coordinator (HCC) to join their team for an opportunity in the Katherine West region in the NT. This position is well suited to someone who has experience in Remote Area Nursing.

The Health Centre Coordinator (HCC) holds the responsibility for overseeing the daily operations and managing systems for the delivery of primary health care services at Katherine West Health Board's Health Centres. The HCC is tasked with offering elevated support and culturally competent clinical leadership and supervision to the Health Centre team. This leadership role entails the maintenance of health systems, the provision of education and training to staff, and the promotion of positive community health.

Your responsibilities will include (but are not limited to):

  • Partnering with other health professionals and relevant external stakeholders to ensure an interprofessional, collaborative, and multi-agency approach to health care is achieved when appropriate.
  • Initiate and participate in Quality Improvement activities within the Health Centre to enhance the safety and effectiveness of care.
  • Promote effective collaboration and mutual respect between centre-based staff, health program team members, visiting specialists, and other key stakeholders to ensure clients have access to a range of services.
  • Be responsible for the cold chain management of vaccines and coordination of infection control practices with the support of the Health Centre team.
  • Active and regular participation in KWHB’s Health Services Advisory Committee (HSAC).
