Health, Safety, and Environment (HSE) Specialist

The successful candidate will play a pivotal role in ensuring regulatory compliance, implementing environmental monitoring initiatives, and managing health, safety, and Environmental programs to foster a safe and compliant workplace.

Position Overview: In this role as the HSE Specialist, the successful candidate will undertake a diverse array of responsibilities, including regulatory compliance, environmental monitoring, and program implementation. Collaboration with various departments, external regulatory bodies, and community engagement will be essential to uphold the highest standards of health, safety, and Environmental practices.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities:

1. Ensure Compliance: Uphold laws and industry standards.
2. Monitor Scrubber Discharge: Oversee quality initiatives.
3. Conduct Exposure Measurements: Assess acrylonitrile in plant.
4. Establish Stormwater Monitoring: Develop and oversee programs.
5. Manage Regulatory Liaisons: Handle licenses, notifications, and submissions.
6. Community Representation: Engage in industry and community programs.
7. Promote Safe Work Systems: Develop and advocate for safe practices.
8. Collaborate with External Bodies: Ensure awareness and emergency preparedness.
9. Maintain Emergency Response Plans: Develop, review, and conduct drills.
10. Record Incidents and Injuries: Investigate and implement corrective actions.
11. Develop Policies and Procedures: Ensure health, safety, and Environmental compliance.
12. Conduct Facility Audits: Identify and control hazards in facilities and processes.
13. Coordinate Safety Programs: Enhance employee proficiency and safety culture.
14. Consult with Stakeholders: Design and implement safety programs.
15. Educate on Safe Practices: Train employees on safety and Environmental responsibilities.
16. Operate Cost-Effectively: Minimize commercial costs.

Supervisory Responsibilities: There are no direct reports to this position.

Operating Environment: The HSE Specialist will interact with all departments and play a crucial role in reviewing and improving processes. Interaction with external organizations is essential to staying current with local, state, and federal health, safety, and Environmental laws.
