Job description

Boandik is seeking a skilled and motivated Health, Safety and Wellbeing Officer to join the team on a permanent part-time or full-time basis (to be negotiated with the successful candidate).

Key Responsibilities:

  • Assisting in the development, implementation, and maintenance of OHS policies and procedures.
  • Conducting regular safety inspections and risk assessments, identifying hazards and recommending solutions.
  • Collaborating with various departments to ensure OHS compliance and providing guidance on safe work practices.
  • Assisting with incident investigations and preparing reports.
  • Conducting safety training and awareness programs for employees.
  • Keeping up to date with relevant OHS legislation and regulations.
  • Assisting in the development of emergency response and evacuation plans.
  • Supporting OHS initiatives and projects as directed.

Qualifications and Experience:

  • A Tertiary qualification in WHS or related field and/or commensurate demonstrated experience in lieu of formal qualifications.
  • Sound knowledge and understanding of safety legislation including worker’s compensation legislation.
  • Comprehensive knowledge of the Occupational Health, Safety and Welfare Act, Regulations and Codes of Practice.
  • Demonstrated experience in leading and or conducting safety audits and investigations.
  • Return to Work Coordinator Certificate or willingness to complete training upon commencement.
  • Strong communication skills and the ability to work collaboratively with diverse teams.
  • Excellent problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
