A global & leading manufacturer of Mining, Construction equipment, and Energy & Transportation has a Fitter/Mechanic/Engineer opportunity. You will be learning and collaborating in a team that designs and tests prototypes for underground mining, but also other global tasks. Based in Burnie - Tasmania you will also be configuring the software for the electronics. It is an expected 50/50 split between physical work and time spent using software. It is a casual role and you are expected to work 38 hours per week plus overtime when deadlines need to be met. Ideally the role is suited for a mechanical fitter with minimum 2 years experience post apprenticeship. Although, heavy equipment mechanics/technicians and mechanical engineers will be considered.
Job Duties:
- Assemble and disassemble heavy and mobile earthwork machinery such as underground loaders and trucks.
- Install and use test equipment
- Operate machines (training provided)
- Perform mechanical fitting and technician tasks
- Assist in building prototypes
- Install and configure accessories (hardware, mechanical, and electronics)
- Configure software for electronics
- Engage in safe work practices
- Mechanical experience (hands-on)
- Ability to assemble and disassemble mobile machines
- Proficiency in installing and using test equipment
- Commitment to safe work practices
- Physical capability to climb over and under large machines
- Trade qualification (e.g., fitter, mechanic) or practical experience
- 2-5 years of real-world experience after completing an apprenticeship
- Familiarity with installing and configuring accessories (hardware, mechanical, electronics)
- Knowledge of software configuration for electronics (desirable)
- Computer literacy
- Good verbal and written communication skills
- Teamwork and collaborative mindset
There is no travel required for the role.
The role requires that candidates have the right to work in Australia with no restrictions and that you reside in Burnie/relocate to Burnie.
