About the role
As the Heavy Rail Plant Operator (HRPO) you are integral to the success of V/Line’s Network Development Asset and Maintenance (NDAM) Group.
You will report to the Track Ganger Wycheproof, a Regional town of Victoria located in the Shire of Buloke in North Western Victoria. Wycheproof is the gateway to the Murray, Mallee and Sunset Country. In this Track Maintenance role, you will work apart of a small engaging team to participate in specialised maintenance and renewal of the V/Line freight rail infrastructure network.
Key Accountabilities include:

  • Maintenance work including the renewal of track work and crossings including sleepers, rail, ballasts and fastenings
  • Operating plant and machinery in a safe manner
  • Ensure all work is performed in accordance with appropriate OH&S standards and regulations
  • Based in Wycheproof, however, travel across the wider North West will be required at times
  • Hours will be Monday to Friday 7:30-4pm with every second Friday off and the flexibility to work overtime and away from home as required
About you
You will form part of an inclusive engaging team who work together to maintain the rail assets that continue to keep freight moving throughout Victoria. Bring your Plant Operation as well as your physical labouring experience, where you will be encouraged to further up skill your knowledge, skills to be able grow and develop to further progress your career in various track maintenance opportunities.
Our ideal candidate will possess the following:
  • Demonstrated alignment to V/Line’s values of responsiveness, integrity, impartiality, accountability, respect, leadership and human rights.
  • Certificate II Rail Infrastructure or willing to obtain within the first 6 months of employment
  • You will be a hard working individual, extremely reliable and safety conscious with a strong team player.
  • Hold a valid Heavy Combination (HC) Truck License
  • Loader, Backhoe and Excavator competence as required
  • You may from time to time be required to work away from your Home Depot on occasion and be flexible to work overtime at other locations.

Remuneration for this position will be in line with the V/Line Rail / Asset Management Enterprise Agreement 2019 and will be paid as IMW Track 2.2 $42.4808
