About the role
As a Home Support Worker you are the Regis representative in the homes of our valued clients. You play a vital role in providing personalised care and services for each client that recognises, respects and celebrates each client’s lived experience and characteristics.
Using your practical and positive approach you will work with clients in their own home, supporting and assisting them to regain and/ or maintain function, social connections, and links with the community. You will be an important part of a team that works together to assist our clients to maintain their well-being and independence in their own surroundings for as long as possible
Your role is critical in supporting and monitoring the client and their environment. You will recognise and report changes in client needs, while respecting client choices and preferences. You will engage with the client and their family/ representative professionally, and warmly, ensuring clients and their family always feel valued, safe and confident in our care.
Your will reporting line is to the General Manager, Home Care Services, and you will supported by our client service managers, and customer service coordinators/ office managers and administrators Shift times vary across a 24 hour schedule including weekends and public holidays.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide services to the client in their home as outlined in the Care Plan, and regularly review the Care Plan to ensure you have an up to date understanding of particular client circumstances, needs and services.
- You will monitor the client and their environment and report any issues, needs, changes or suggestions to your Client Services manager
Your duties will differ according to the needs of the client, however may include:
- Personal care - showering, oral care, continence management
- Food preparation - preparing meals, monitoring foods and fluids
- Social support - escorting the client on outings such as shopping trips, coffee/lunch excursions, visits
- Transport - for the client to doctors’ appointments, to/from hospital, to/from respite care etc.
- Medication Assistance - (subject to holding up to date competency) issuing and/or monitoring to ensure medication is being taken, assisting with simple dressings, application of ointments etc.
- Routine household cleaning, tidying, assisting with laundry, ironing, bed making, dusting, vacuuming and mopping
Skills & Experience
- Qualified with a Certificate III in Community Care or Aged Care
- Previous experience in a AIN/PCA or Home Care Support Worker role
- First Aid / CPR Qualifications
- Good communication and customer service focus
- Passionate and committed to supporting the aged and frail to maintain their well-being, dignity and independence
- Able to develop strong, positive relationships with a range of internal and external stakeholders
