The Homelessness Services provides outreach support to families, single adults, youth and couples in the Inner Gippsland region who are homeless or at risk of homelessness. The aim of the program is to support clients to access and maintain housing while addressing support needs which contributed to their homelessness.

Homeless to a Home (H2H) program is a Victorian Government initiative providing support and pathways into safe, secure, and sustainable medium and long-term housing for 1,845 households, who were residing in emergency accommodation during the COVID-19 pandemic.

The Salvation Army H2H Program assists young people, single adults and families with a holistic, best practice, trauma informed and person-centred case management to access housing, support and or early intervention to address the issues that have contributed to their situation.

Why this role matters
We are seeking a motivated Case Manager to provide outreach and support to people who have been placed in H2H properties to meet their support needs and prevent their return to the homelessness service system.

This position is instrumental in providing information, advice, advocacy, liaison and referrals to people who are assisted using a strength-based approach to identify goals to empower them to work towards establishing safe, secure, affordable housing. Additionally, case managers develop person centred and holistic case (and or safety) plans to ensure the individual needs and risks of each client is met throughout their service period with The Salvation Army Homelessness East.

This is a full time, maximum term position to 10 March 2023, based in Leongatha. Salary and conditions of employment are in accordance with the Social, Community, Home Care and Disability Services Award, Level 5.

What we're looking for

• Relevant tertiary qualification in social work, community services, youth work, psychology or community development - diploma level (minimum)
• Knowledge of theories of human development and how they impact on current day approaches and interventions in the social services sector
• Demonstrated knowledge of theoretical frameworks that underpin attachment theory and trauma informed practice
• Knowledge of the physical, emotional, psychological and behavioural impact of trauma and abuse
• Expertise in working with clients with multiple vulnerabilities, histories of trauma, and complex needs
• Understanding and application of homelessness models, approaches, theories and practices when dealing with clients
• Understanding of the concepts and principles of diversity and inclusion and how they impact on current day approaches and practices
• A current VIC Drivers Licence
• Valid VIC Employee Working with Children Check
• Ability to provide proof of Eligibility to Work in Australia
