Footprints Community is a well-regarded not-for-profit provider of community-based services, working in the community for over 30 years. We specialise in working with older people, those that experience disability, mental illness, as well as those who are at risk of homelessness.

About the role and program

The Homelessness Response Service (HRS) delivers specialist homelessness services to those experiencing homelessness and or those sleeping rough within the Redlands region including Wynnum Bayside, southern Moreton Bay islands and North Stradbroke Island (Minjerribah). 


The purpose of the Homelessness Enhanced Outreach Worker is to provide assertive outreach to people who are rough sleeping and experiencing chronic homelessness where they are in public places (ie. Parks, shelters, squats) to access short term immediate accommodation and exit out of homelessness.  The role will also support people rough sleeping to link in or be referred to supports that appropriate for their individual need.  


We are seeking a compassionate and dedicated individual to join our team as a Homelessness Enhanced Outreach Worker. This position involves reaching out to individuals experiencing homelessness, providing support, connecting them with resources, and assisting them in transitioning to stable housing situations. The ideal candidate will possess excellent interpersonal skills, empathy, and a strong commitment to helping those in need.

About you

Essential 

  • Relevant Tertiary Qualification or significant progress towards such a qualification and demonstrated experience in the provision of community-based support services which reflect wellness, reablement and recovery approaches. 
  • Demonstrated knowledge and experience providing individualised client support across a diverse base, including older people, people with disabilities, people experiencing mental health illness, people experiencing homeliness and those at risk of. 
  • Demonstrated ability to network, build and maintain positive working relationships with government, private and community stakeholders. 
  • Demonstrated professional work practices that reflect flexibility, and the ability to work both independently and in a collaborative team environment.
  • Well-developed written and verbal communication skills and computer literacy, including the ability to work remotely when required, and to utilise virtual platforms e.g., Microsoft Teams and Zoom.
  • Current class C driver license and insured vehicle, 
  • National Workers Screening check or current Yellow Card.
  • Current First Aid Certificate and CPR
