About us
We have two Tasmanian Tourism Award winning heritage B&B accommodations on the fringe of the Launceston CBD. Alice's Cottages consists of 7 self-contained cottages and The Dragonfly Inn consists of 10 Guest Rooms with ensuites. All include a hearty breakfast basket per night as part of the stay. We have a great little team working across the two properties 7 days per week, a great and friendly place to work.
We are seeking a housekeeper / deep cleaner to fill a dynamic role, covering both daily check-out cleans as well as deep cleaning. On the job training and support will be provided, however at least 12 months of housekeeping experience is preferred.
The role would involve a minimum of 10 hours per week (shifts are a minimum of 2 hours), with:
- 2 set days (Monday and Tuesday) with hours ranging between 11am - 3pm (depending on how many check-outs on the day) as well as;
- 4 “on-call” days (Wednesday, Thursday, Saturday and Sunday) with hours ranging between 10am – 3pm (depending on how many check-outs on the day).
Qualifications & experience
- Fit and able to move fast and up stairs
- Must have own car and driver’s license
- Good communication skills & ability to use WhatsApp (we can teach you this)
- Attention to detail
- Punctuality and reliability
- Strong team player and proactive mindset
- Previous housekeeping / cleaning experience preferred
- Police clearance certificate will be required upon a acceptance of offer
- A copy of your licence will also be required on acceptance of offer
- Candidate will be selected on a trial basis initially and must demonstrate that they are quickly getting up to speed with our specially designed cleaning process, and that they have a great attitude that fits into our team.
Tasks & responsibilities
Housekeeping (Check-out Cleaning)
We have a maximum number of check-out cleans that our “lead” housekeeper can handle per property – we then have “assist” housekeepers that pick up the extra check-out cleans at one or both properties, depending on how many check-outs on the day. Examples of what a day could look like – eg. 2 cottages at Alice’s, followed by 2 rooms at Dragonfly, eg. 4 rooms at Dragonfly plus back of house duties, with none at Alice’s, eg. 3 cottages at Alice's with none at Dragonfly, etc.
Tasks would include:
- Stripping guest rooms
- Making up the beds
- Wiping down all surfaces
- Bathroom cleaning
- Re-setting all room / cottage items
- Vacuuming and mopping
- Preparation of Breakfast Baskets
- Cleaning and restocking Grand Dining Room
- Cleaning of common areas
- Dishes in back of house
- Washing linens
Deep Cleaning
We have a deep cleaning schedule that runs over a month, whereby all 17 rooms / cottages are focused on at a deeper level than the check-out cleaning, thus ensuring a high standard of cleanliness for our guests.
Tasks would include:
- Dusting
- Scrubbing showers and basins
- Wiping out cupboards, fridges and ovens
- Window Cleaning
- Fireplace cleaning
- Vacuuming under furniture
- Other adhoc tasks as directed by the property manager
