Job description:
The HR Adviser – Payroll is responsible for contributing to the delivery of a high-quality payroll service for the Department and client organisations. This position will support the payroll team in all payroll matters, creating partnerships across the organisation to deliver value-added service to the Duties:

Duties
Duties:
Accurately and efficiently process a wide range of payroll activities using an HR Information System, ensuring compliance with relevant awards, legislation, policies and procedures. This ranges from appointment, employment and entitlement changes, leave, through to termination.
Provide timely and proactive advice and support to employees and managers on payroll and employee entitlements, including support with system administration and provision of relevant information and documentation.
Support the payroll and HR team with the shared management of payroll workflow, including maintenance of accurate records using an information management system.
Understudy the HR Consultant – Payroll, including finalisation and reconciliation of the Department’s payroll, quality-control of payroll processing, and coaching and mentoring less experienced staff.
With a focus on continuous improvement, assist with the development, implementation and review of policies, practices and procedures and undertake designated projects in relation to payroll.
Perform any other allocated duties, not specifically mentioned in this document, that are within the capacity, qualifications and experience normally expected from an occupant at this classification level.
Selection criteria:
Demonstrated knowledge and experience in the provision of a wide range of payroll activities and understanding of contemporary HR and payroll practices.
Demonstrated experience in using a Payroll/HR Information system to accurately manage workflow and information, with the ability to adapt to new systems and processes.
Ability to maintain compliance with relevant legislation, policies and procedures, using sound judgement to research, interpret and apply them to standard situations.
Well-developed written communication and interpersonal skills, including the ability to effectively liaise with a diverse range of clients, use tact and discretion, maintain confidentiality and provide solution focused outcomes.
Demonstrated ability to work effectively, both independently and collaboratively as part of a team, prioritise tasks and be responsive to varying work demands.
Demonstrated ability to contribute to continuous business improvement and use initiative and innovation to drive best practice in payroll.
