HR/ER Advisor providing support and guidanceto Qld P&C Volunteers

  • Related tertiary qualifications or relevant experience required.
  • Part-time role (Monday to Friday) with flexibility to work from home for up to 2 days per week.
  • Up to $40,000 + super (circa 20 hours/wk)

P&Cs Qld is the peak body supporting and representing more than 900,000 state school parents and interested citizens, throughout Queensland.

We have a diverse and dynamic team operating from the State Office in Wilston, united by a passion to give ‘every child every chance’. Together, the staff help P&C members in schools with their operations by developing resources, holding events and answering enquiries. We also advise and work closely with the State Department of Education.

The HR Support Services team is responsible for providing high quality support and guidance, including verbal and written advice to employing P&C Associations on all aspects of employment relations and legislation. 

In your role, you will:

  • Provide telephone and email advice on a best practice employment relations, providing step-by-step guidance from strategy to execution.
  • Undertake accurate interpretation of the relevant Queensland Modern Award to assist member P&C Associations understand their legislative requirements and rights as employers.
  • Assist member P&C Associations in conducting workplace investigations and resolving employee grievances. 
  • Author employment relations publications. 
  • Prepare and deliver educational presentations. 

What are we looking for?

To be successful in this role, we are looking for a team member who can demonstrate the following:

  • Qualifications in industrial relations, human resources or law, and/or relevant experience.
  • High motivation to provide exceptional support to members and a dedication to building rapport.
  • A high level of verbal and written communication skills.
  • The capacity to comprehend the legal obligations of employers and to communicate them to members in a user-friendly manner.
  • An ability to apply critical thinking, reasoning, evaluation and decision-making skills.
  • Well-developed people and relationship skills with an ability to work in a team environment.
