In this role, you will provide HSE assistance, advice, training, and support to our staff and subcontractor network. This position would suit someone who has health and safety experience and is keen on expanding their health and safety skills and experience with a growing and diverse business.

Key Responsibilities
- Drive & lead a strong safety culture – cultural fit and a “safety leader” is what we are looking for.
- Drive a strong onsite presence amongst our staff and subcontractors through inspections, audits, leading by example and coaching in the moment.
- Reduce risks and prevent injuries through a focus on high risk work and safety compliance.
- Keep up to date with HSE compliance in relevant state & national legislation
- Implement, maintain & update project specific HSE plans and SWMS for high risk or value jobs
- Liaise with regulatory authorities on matters of Health Safety & Environmental compliance
- Ensure a standard risk management approach is implemented across all businesses in line with our JLG safety management system – keeping safety simple
- Manage HSE inductions & onboarding process for new internal staff, including HSE training
- Provide advice on HSE matters and issues which arise, in line with company framework and safety management system
- Respond to incidents & emergencies, including investigations, reporting & escalation
- Monitoring of safety compliance through efficient safety systems and technology with a focus on lead and lag indicators
- Other duties as directed by the National HSE Manager & State Managers including monthly reporting & contribution to strategic plans and projects

- Qualification in Work Health & Safety, essential (minimum Certificate IV in H&S)
- Previous experience in the Building & Construction industry
- Use of safety systems and technology
- Ability to build strong relationships with internal & external stakeholders
- Superior communication skills, both written & verbal
- Results driven & adaptable
- Excellent organisational skills & attention to detail
- Ability to manage multiple / competing priorities & make quick decisions
- Problem solving & process implementation skills
- Ability to analyse & interpret data, laws & regulations
- Strong Microsoft Office skills, including Outlook, Word, Excel & PowerPoint
- Valid driver licence
- Construction White Card
- Working with Children Check (preferred or to undertake during employment)
