About the role:

An exciting opportunity has become available for an experienced Health Safety & Environment Advisor - QLD / Northern Regionto join our Knauf team based in Pinkenba, QLD.

Reporting to the National Health Safety and Environment Manager, you will be responsible for providing specialist Health Safety & Environment functional advice to the Plasterboard business in Queensland and Northern Territory within the framework ensuring compliance with national and regional initiatives.

Knauf provides high quality internal linings, related products, and systems for residential and commercial construction, and is seeking a responsible, organised and experienced individual with some strong experience in environmental reporting as well as worked in a highly unionised environment.

It is critical to understand the importance of complying with Workplace Health & Safety standards and follow protocol.

Role responsibilities:

  • Coach and mentor, the business units to fulfil the requirements of our behavior-based safety and Environment System
  • Provide advice and direction to the Regional, National and global team regarding Health Safety and Environmental matters.
  • Provide advice and direction to local and operational management within the business, promoting systemic alignment with Regional and National initiatives,
  • Assist and manage compliance with the Safety and Environment Management System and performance indicators
  • Provide insights from statistical data for each business and provide advice on remedial activity, provide monthly activity reports to the National Health Safety and Environment Manager.
  • Facilitate two-way communication, feedback and interaction between employees and managers,
  • Facilitate and participate in high level incident investigation and risk assessment activities, review and assist in development of Safe Operating Procedures, contributing to Regional and National initiatives,
  • Contribute to the planning and execution of Safety Management System related projects

Candidate requirements:

  • Prior experience in a similar role within manufacturing
  • Experience dealing with environment issues, reporting as well as with unions highly regarded
  • Return to work, Workers Compensation experience highly beneficial
  • Relevant qualification/certificate for the role preferred
  • Able to apply Health Safety and Environment Legislation to business activities
  • Strong understanding of behavioral safety
  • Ability to coach internal and external stakeholders(especially blue collar) on complying with Workplace Health & Safety Standards
  • Strong communication, analytical and relationship management skills required
  • Ability to work in a team and autonomously
  • Exposure to continuous improvement or Lean manufacturing principles would be highly regarded but not essential
